::Good place for a hike. Come prepared and bring water bottle and snacks. Be careful of the tides. The come up very quick and take over most of the beaches walking area. You dont want to be stranded when the tide comes in

::Nice park if you hang out long enough you'll catch a few deer walking through looking for scraps we saw 4 just last weekend. Plenty of grassy areas for out door games and lots of tables

::The crown jewel in Tacoma's fantastic selection of parks. Pt. Defiance is an amazing city park and one of the most beautiful city parks in WA and certainly the most beautiful in the South Sound. Pt. Defiance features amazing hiking trails, ample room to run around with the kids, play areas, BBQ shelters, Owen's beach, historic buildings, beautiful gardens, a dog park, amazing views of the Sound, and (of course) Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. While the wildlife at the zoo is the amazing, there's also some cute and cuddly little creatures to be spotted around the park. Racoon, deer, otters in the Sound, seals, tons of birds, etc. It's like a slice of nature in the middle of the city. Pt. Defiance is large enough to very rarely feel crowded and often times you can walk the trails for quite a while and barely bump into another person. It truly is amazing to live in a city with such a large public space saved from development.

::This is one of the best places to visit in Tacoma. It's zoo & and aquarium are top notch, there are many well maintained hiking trails throughout the park. A large portion of its well known Five Mile Drive is open to only walkers and cyclists at times of the day. It's Owen Beach is beautiful and popular for picnics, strolling, beach parties, and photography. The entire park is well maintained. It's Fort Nisqually is staffed by knowledgeable, friendly people trained in local history. It's worth a visit, definitely.

::I love learning about the rehabilitation of endangered animals. I've been going since before I can remember. Now I take my kids. We can't wait to see the new aquarium this summer, but I hope the original aquarium is still kept too, but that may be hopeful wishing. I guess we shall see.... I volunteered as a youth and my 3 year old already told me she wants to volunteer their too. Staff are all wonderful. Always friendly and ever so helpful.
