  They seem to go out of their way to make you feel bad. Have been shopping here for years, and never once have I been able to go in, get what I want, and get out. They've made a lot of mistakes (a lot) but honestly what matters most to me is that I've never once left that store feeling happy. They've always treated me with passive aggressive disdain--just enough to not be a blatant insult. If they just a little less spiteful, this would be a great store.

  Streamlined redesign. They have a good stock of tools, paints, and friendly staff.

  Through the years, just like so many other Ace Hardware locations, Pintchik has provided reliable, trustworthy service.

  This store is always helpful, if you’re not afraid to ask. They always tell me if something doesn’t work, “bring it on back.” Matt Pintchik himself has helped me pick out the right supplies and tools I need. A good neighborhood hardware store.

  I've gone to Pintchik from time to time for about 5 years now. The owner is personable, even if he took up my time to complain about Obamacre. It's just that the customer service is exceptionally bad. I'm a New Yorker and I can live with rudeness if the vendor gives me valuable information or a good product. Unfortunately, they're both rude and unhelpful at Pintchik. I tried them today because Mazzone Paint Center is closed for renovations. It wasn't fun. I walked in and put my old paint container on the counter. Before I could say a word, a Pintchik employee barked, "We don't carry that no more." I like a double negative as much as the next guy, but then he mumbled something else and walked away. Another employee came over, so I stared to explain my situation, which is that I wanted to buy a can of Benjamin Moore paint the same color as the old paint, but the original paint number was covered over. I did Internet research before going to the store, so I had a specific request. Before I could complete my first sentence, the original genius came over and interrupted me -- partly with information I already knew from my research and partly with useless information. I tried again, and this pattern repeated itself several times. Then, the obnoxious guy walked away, and the second guy started trying to talk me into a different color. I just left. My father was a plumber, so I have a lot of respect for folks who have knowledge and love of the trades. Unfortunately, that has not been experience with the Pintchik folks. To me, they just seem to hate their jobs. I keep going back when I can, hoping for improvement.
