Beautiful views without having to drive far from the city center.

This was most certainly a fun hike but make sure you pay attention to the markers or you may end up hiking the mountain twice! In all the excitement of thw hike, we read the sign and saw "scenic" thinking it was a route but instead it was an overlook (which it stated). We got somewhat lost and way off the trail. Most of our hike ended up being finding our way back but it's definitely something we can laugh at!

I love this hike, easy enough and usually quiet on the trail. Watch out for snakes in the warmer months.

Took my 11-year-old son on this hike early on a Thursday morning. There were three other people out hiking it at the same time and all were super friendly. This hike starts down near the front of a subdivision, in a local park. Find a parking spot and follow the small concrete markers (maybe 12" inches high?) that lead you up the street and to the trail. We didn't do the very short "scenic overlook" as we had our eyes on the peak up top. There were tons of saguaro cacti and other vegetation, even a couple gila woodpeckers. It was a good, little hike for sure. We took the route up and to the right for the peak (labeled "difficult" on the marker). It's a bit steeper and rocky, but certainly doable. Then we looped back around the other side, hit that same intersection and then went back to the city park (and our car). Make sure you use the water fountains at the park to fill up your water before you go. :)
