We used to adore this place but after a horrible experience on Mother's Day (I wrote a very long review on yelp if you're interested) and an even more horrible follow up from the general manager I did some investigation and the hotel was sold to a larger commercial real estate company 6 months ago. The previous owners were based in San Diego while the new owners do not live here. It makes sense because we hadn't been there since it was sold and the entire vibe of the staff was different and the hotel seemed more run down as well. It even had a weird smell. I used to highly recommend this place to everyone I knew and it was our favorite staycation and date night spot. However I can no longer recommend it since the ownership change.

Great stylish place to hangout and have great dinner and specialty drinks. But not a place to stay if looking for a quiet room for the week. You can hear almost every conversation in the dining area from 5p to 11p. There's also construction happening in the back and the construction is loud. Hope you are a morning person cause you can't sleep past 8am.

My team had the pleasure of working on this hotel for a few days, and we loved being there. It's a lot more fun than you'd expect a small hotel to be. The bar and pool area had a great vibe and they played movies on a large-projection screen in the pool area at night. Somehow, playing the movies in that kind of atmosphere made it much more fun than just watching them at a theater. There is a feeling of comradery among the guests while watching the movie around the pool over dinner, and a contagion of laughter as everyone watches the funny scenes together. There is also a private dining area if you want a more intimate setting. The staff was very pleasant and would eagerly go out of their way to accommodate people. They were all consummate professionals, from the Natalie the manager, Amanda the restaurant manager, the chef and kitchen staff, the front desk staff, and the bar-tenders-- even the house-cleaning staff. Everyone makes you feel welcome and appreciated. I never had a chance to eat there, but customers were raving about how good the food was. It sure smelled good! If you're visiting San Diego, staying at the Pearl will greatly enhance your visit. If you live in San Diego, it would be fun to spend a weekend, or even just go there for dinner or drinks. I plan to have dinner there soon, and experience the great food everyone was talking about.

Went for brunch. Such a cozy, relaxing place to be. Food is spot on and tasty. The staff is welcoming and you can tell they enjoy working there as well. Overall, a great experience.
