  This review is for the mathathon program NOT the hospital its self. i am a 7th grade math teacher, and i despise this program The problem with the math-a-thon is that the questions are poorly put together. every grade gets the same question just with different numbers example, 7th grade question: "super lady has 72 bolts of power, she gets 35 bolts for every villain she catches, and uses 13 bolts every villain shE catches. She catches 19 villains a week, how many bolts does she have in 8 days? while the 4th grade math-a-thon problem would be: super lady has 3 bolts of power, she gets 5 bolts for every villain she catches, and uses 1 bolt every villain she catches. how many bolts does she have after she catches 4 villains? It angers me that such a good cause is driving away support with ridiculous program. Half of my students refused to do it due to the fact it was just too confusing to even understand what the question as even asking, (and yes, they were allowed to since this was not mandatory,) and the rest of the kids got less than half of the questions right, which means less money for St.Judes. While on the other hand, our school also does jump rope for heart, and out school gives out thousands of dollars to them by the students collections alone. And that's because the students actually get prizes for their work. I would love this program, if only st judes put more effort into it.
