::Unfortunately, some funeral parlors take complete advantage of people who do not have financial means and lack experience with the funeral/cemetery industry. Park Avenue Funeral Parlor in Brooklyn is one such Funeral Parlor. If you know that a person tells you that for the amount of money they say they have, it would only provide the cemetery, ride in their casket on the back of a dirty old pick up truck, only to have their loved dumped into a freshly (actually still being dug as we got there) ditch. Mind you we knew that the cemetery would be 42 miles away-we picked a less expensive casket, but one of the most important parts of the funeral is how the remains are treated. Park Avenue should have refused the family since that was what they were willing to do for the price. They cannot say that the family agreed to having their loved one dumped into the ditch-which was not even 6 ft deep-and in a region of this cemetery (Forest Park Green Cemetery in Morganville, NJ-I gave a review under separate cover of this review) which seriously looked like "Potters Field". If that was what was going to happen for the price that is what Park Avenue should have said. Not even a blade of grass, on the entire "Block" of space, and not even a piece of cardboard around the grave to outline it or the edge-also-the entire block was located directly on the edge of a swamp which made us uneasy thinking about future weather conditions and the area. All in all, our experience with this funeral home was a bad one, and I would highly recommend that you do business elsewhere if at all possible-if you do not have much money or if you do not have the time to go and see the actual cemetery and the actual plot area that your loved one will be buried. Make sure you inquire carefully-for example-we had no idea that if it was muddy-which it was, the funeral home would not allow the hearse to carry the casket up to the grave site- which was very muddy and still being dug. So, an old pick up truck was used by the cemetery and our loved one was slid in amongst cemetery tools and junk while we cried. THAT should have never happened either. I felt like I saw better "funerals" for pets actually. The owner of the funeral home, is a nice person, but I guess like my father used to always say "you cannot have a friend who actually owns a business".

::I had to lay my step-dad to rest in December. As a Florida resident all I had to rely on was reviews, conversations, and word of mouth. I chose Park Avenue over a nearby competitor. It turned out to be a great decision. The professionalism, tact, and candidness were behaviors I was comfortable with. I appreciate the real time flow of information even after the ceremony was complete. If you looking for good service and you're on a budget look no further. I HOPE I DON'T EVER SEE YOU AGAIN!!! But if I have to....I'll be back.

::Do not use this Funeral home for your loved ones who have passed. I unfortunately went through a God awful and disturbing experience with Park Ave Funeral home and how they treated the remains of my late Father. In addition, the funeral director provided awful customer service, disregard, and a complete lack of respect for the loss of my Father. I would have paid to NOT use them...
