Has a lovely antique/vintage atmosphere. The history behind the hotel and museum is very interesting. The service in the hotel was not the best though. I think it was the manager or something but he wasn't the friendliest of people. The service at the cafe was great though. The barista was very friendly and engaged in conversation with us. He was also very polite. We received a continental breakfast and a complementary coffee and pastry. The cafe was nicely decorated and felt cozy and welcoming.

Stopped in for coffee, tea and pastries. Great people working and delicious drinks. The museum was very interesting too, would definitely go again.

Cute old hotel filled with antiques and art. You will be sharing a bathroom and a shower so be prepared. Other than that everything was beautiful and charming. Friendly staff. Wonderful tea house next door with amazing drip coffee. Historic building with many stairs so it isn't for every one but I would definitely stay here again.

Honestly the owner of this place is older than the building. Immediately judged me and my friends as we walked in and assumed that we were just there to party... than pretty much said we couldn't stay there. I wouldn't even if they paid me.

A beautiful, historic hotel built by Japanese immigrants in the 1900s. It is connected to a Japanese tea house that is worth checking out. My friend is very particular about drip coffee and was in love with theirs! I had freshly mixed and brewed Lavender Earl Grey which was just perfect! Beverages and pastries are complimentary the next morning with your stay. The amenities are well cared for, rustic, but charming, and the room furnishings are cozy. The room I stayed in had really cute Beatrix Potter paintings. The brass bed was rickety, yet comfortable. It's truly an experience worth doing, if you want to feel like you've stepped into the past. My friends and I stayed for New Year's but it is a quiet hotel in the International District, so wouldn't recommend for large or loud groups. No private bathrooms - so showers and toilets are shared dormitory-style by men's and women's in the hallways. Across the street is a Japanese garden with a family-friendly children's community garden on the upper level with sustainable development and chickens. It's a beautifully maintained area, perfect for strolling through the morning after your stay. Still close enough to walk to the Pike Place Market (5-7 blocks) downhill.
