  Cute little gym. Good place to avoid being fat, not really the place to train your body for excellence. Extremely overpriced for what is provided. Should be included in the apartment amenities (even though they say it is, you still have to pay separate for an account).

  The pros about this gym is that it is very clean and the machines are in great shape. The con about this gym is that it is super super small and super super packed with equipment. They don't have all of the equipment that a gym should have, not to mention they don't even have an area for stretching or foam rolling. It's very pricey for what you get. But! If all you want are cardio machines, then it's probably perfect for you. I was hugely disappointed. Definitely not a $90 or $100/mo gym.

  When I moved into Stuytown, I went in to sign up for the complimentary free month trial. Because I needed up not being able to get out of an existing gym contract, I never went, and when trying to see if I could move the trial date now that I'm out of the contract, I was told I was S.O.L. - definitely frustrating that there's a lack of customer service for residents.

  My Credit card expired, I called to cancel my membership and was told I needed to come into the office. I was on vacation out on Long Island. I made the trip in to cancel, only to be told that one can only cancel by email and nobody would have told me that I had to come to the office. In other words being told I was lying about being told I had to come in. I hadn't used their services for more then a year. and now told that if I didn't cancel by email my account would be turned over to a credit agency. I will be re-joining a gym in a few months and it certainly won't be Oval Fitness. And they don't deserve the one star the site makes you give.

  I give Oval 5 stars primarily because it has, on staff, one of the best trainers I've ever had. Freddie Murrilo knows his stuff and has such a loyal base of followers!!! The classes he leads are among the best workouts I've ever had so much so that I decided to sign up for PT with him and have been thrilled with the results so far! He has a way of bringing all of us members together via his classes and because of that we've all even made some friends in the community! Thanks, Oval for bringing us Trainers like Freddie!!
