This is the second time on the California Zephyr and the first time taking it to Chicago from Omaha. Station was easy to find, parking was free and easy. With the Amtrak app, you can track your train’s arrival precisely and either wait in your car until it pulls up, or wait inside. The station lobby was clean and staff friendly and professional. Riding the train, do not expect to have an “Out of Africa” romantic experience riding coach class—you’re much more likely to experience a Hogwarts Express experience with characters of all species. I actually had what appeared to be a Denentor on my train for instance—likely heading to meet family in Chicago. When the train arrives, the conductor will come into the station waiting area and scan your tickets—again, the Amtrak app is useful to just pull it up and present, Parking at the Omaha station is free and well lit. You can park overnight or apparently longer but no security is in parking area. It actually all seems pretty safe for parking.

Easy to get to. If staying downtown near old market you can walk to station in a pinch.

I gave it 1 star because it was a building and warm until we were kicked outside (15 minutes). Our train came in 1.5 hrs late. They turned us out into the cold rain with an infant and 2 others under 3 years old. They were disgruntled that the train was late. No bench to sit on outside. The 2 attendants 1 male 1 female were not pleasant. They never offered to help us with our baggage outside. 2 disabled females (daughter & Mom) and 1 disabled senior (my husband).

This station has been staffed by friendly, helpful personnel on all of the three times I've been here. Even after 10 p.m. I feel safe here. The station, including the restrooms, is clean. Note: not much on hand or nearby for snacks or drinks. I think there are a couple vending machines.

I was stranded at the station for hours awaiting pick up. The staff were friendly and polite and the place was clean. It's small but neat.
