  One of the few massage place that has a working sauna but please make sure you call ahead and make an appointment (and have them warm up their sauna). Their massage rate are a bit more expensive than other places, but this place deliver. It does get a bit noisy here though and they only have two shower stalls. The sauna is one of the best as they put a bowl of herbs that does miracles clearing your sinuses and making you feel relax.

  Yesterday after work I decided to go for a massage. The place that I wanted to go to was closed for Columbus Day so I Google searched a place nearby, and Oakland Massage Center came up. I read the Google reviews about the shady tip-in-advance practices and should have listened, but I didn’t. I decided to go for the 30 minute foot and 30 minute body massage for $35 (usually the places I go to are $35 for 30 minute foot and 1 hour body massage, but whatever). They told me I needed to pay in advance-- $35 plus they wanted $15 (almost 50%) in tips. I said I would pay $10, and that was what sealed the deal for the worst massage I’ve ever received. The foot massage started with a lukewarm foot bath and the woman put on latex gloves. Sorry, but if feet gross you out then you’re in the wrong business! Imagine getting rubbed with a latex glove for 30 minutes—not pleasant at all. Meanwhile she kept chattering to another woman nearby. She rubbed extremely hard, which I didn’t mind because I like hard foot massages, but if my tolerance wasn’t so high it would be painful. For the body massage, she initially wanted to do it on a table next to the chairs but when I questioned it she said we can go to a room. She never shut the door and it was right behind the reception desk so I could hear more chattering. I started to take off my dress and she said “No—clothes on.” I was confused, because who gets a massage fully dressed? She then threw a sheet over me, and rubbed back and forth, back and forth on my shoulders. I was wearing a thick cotton dress and the friction hurt. There was no oil or lotion used. She didn’t care if I had shoulder knots or not. She alternated between half-assed rubbing back and forth and angrily jabbing me in the ribs and shoulder. Towards the end (I was ready to walk out several times but didn’t) she leaned down and said, “next time you come back and give $20 tip and get a good massage.” I was appalled. This morning I woke up to some pain on my shoulders and saw a large bruise (pic attached). This place is super unethical and should be put out of business. Moral of the story? If they ask for a tip in advance walk out, and listen to Google reviews!!

  I went in for $45 massage, the woman informed me I needed to pay first, no problem. She told me I needed to tip first as well. I said ok and was debating how much to give for service I hadn't received yet. She then told me I had to leave $20. I questioned her and she insisted I must give her $20 tip as she would give a strong massage. Not cool. Firstly, a tip is for service, good or poor, you tip accordingly. I often give high tops but nearly 50% seemed wild, particularly since I had no idea what kind of service she would give. Bad. Bad. Bad.

  I love working with Tony. He is one of the best massage person there. He is awesome. However, I was put off with my experience there yesterday. I went in, got my usual massage. When it came time to pay, the lady at the counter, named Judy asked me to pay $60.00. The massage cost $45. She indicated to me that $45 goes to the massage, the $15 would go to Tony. I was very put off by her telling me how much tip I should put in. Not that Tony doesn't deserve a tip, but Judy telling, not asking, but telling me is a put off.
