One of my favorite spots to go when I have a friend in town. Well worth the wait. Usually get a Lobster Roll and a Sea-green Salad. On a nice night I go and put my name on the wait list and walk over to the Boston Public Market for an ice cream or coffee the sit on the Greenway and wait for the restaurant to call. I know the place is crowded, but the service and food is great.

How to go to Neptune Oyster: Walk in, close the door behind you, and wait until somebody comes by to put your name on a list so you can come back in an hour or 6. The empty seats aren't empty, those are the seats of people who have come before you. Abandon all hope. That said, Neptune Oyster is a fantastic restaurant with very fresh seafood and very fresh oysters. A great wine selection accompanies the great food, and it's worth the wait. I'd write a longer review about the mussels or lobster rolls or oysters but, if you're reading this then you should just go put your name on the list and see for yourself.

Hot lobster roll didn't meet my expectation. Luke's lobster roll is still the better one. Clam chowder is a bit water down, but it was make to order. Johnny cake was pretty good. The line outside is for the waiting list, not the actual seating line. They put you on the list, then call you when it is your turn.

I'm not a fan of lobster or oysters at all, but according to my wife this was the best lobster roll in all of Boston. We got there on a Sunday around 12:15 and found out the current wait for two people was "about two and a half hours, maybe three"! The only reason we put our name on the list was that every food critic site, and every local we asked, recommended this place for the best lobster roll in Boston. One convenient aspect was the location, which allowed us to continue our sightseeing while remaining close enough to get back once they called us. As for the food, I heard not one complaint from my wife, or any of the other patrons seated around us; and believe me when I say you would hear the person sitting next to you complain! The seating situation is very intimate. Do not plan on a quiet meal with any type of privacy.

Overall: LOBSTER. ROLLS. The best I've had. Worth the two hour wait. The good: I'm sure all their food is delicious, but by God the lobster roll is phenomenal. The reputation holds true, from the generous chunks loaded on a soft yet sturdy bun to the load of fresh cut fries that are served on the side. The roll wasn't too buttery and the lobster flavor was tantalizing. The atmosphere is unique and rustic, but in a classy way. The server was friendly and attentive, and the food came out pretty quickly after we ordered. Oh, and the portions are huge, I had to be rolled outta there. The not-so-good: The wait, as many others state, is absurdly long. We had to wait almost two hours, but they at least let you leave your number and go elsewhere (10 minute return deadline). Atmosphere: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 10/10
