  I cannot thank the Meadowbrook community enough. There are no words. When you face a brutal diagnosis of Lewy Body dementia and you see your family deteriorating daily- there really is very little hope. As a family member of one so loved yet so very ill, the struggle to decide what to do to meet their needs is almost beyond comprehension. All family members rise to meet the needs of one so ill, but the long debilitating illness seems to compromise even those that are healthy, as we struggle to meet the needs of the patient. There is no positive resolution on the horizon, and the doctors will tell you there is little or nothing to be done. Your family member is ill and miserable, and cannot comprehend what is happening to them. Then the day comes. The day when you are afraid that something horrible will happen if you cannot find an answer, not just to your struggling patient, but other loved ones trying to work around the clock to provide the care needed. This decision, the decision to remove your father, mother, sister brother from his home, is brutal. I hope this is a decision you NEVER have to make. That day finally came for me, and I drove and saw many different types of caregiving facilities. The Meadowbrook Memory Care was a smaller, intimate community and I loved the feel of the community when I walked in the door. I know I must have looked half crazed, with stress pouring off me. I didn’t have an appointment, I just walked in. The staff was just so concerned and caring. I was amazed at how accommodating they were. As I walked into their reception area and was greeted with fresh cookies and smiling faces, this gave me a moment of clarity. More importantly, it gave me hope .As my search continued thru out the day, I felt certain that Meadowbrook was the right answer for my family. I was told at most communities, that to place a new resident can take a few days, as there are many details which must be attended too. I came back to Meadowbrook the very same day and asked if it would be possible to expedite and have my family member, be an immediate resident. I was so very concerned for his safety. I really was amazed as there are always medical interviews required, when Angie asked their medical staff for an immediate interview and was amazed as their director of nursing reworked her schedule and told me she would be at our home in 30 minutes. With the Meadowbrook staff’s accommodating and understanding attitude, my family member was safe, secure and most importantly HAPPY, by the end of the day. I am so very grateful. I cannot say enough about their care and daily interactions with their residents. My family visits daily, and we are always greeted with a very busy, happy resident! It truly is a community and I am very thankful I found them.
