THEY CANNOT BE SERIOUS!! Well after not being seated and navigating through the restaurant to find out how we are supposed to be seated, we managed to make our way to the service counter. As we looked through the complex menu, our party of 5 had placed all of our orders. To our dismay our 5 meals that each ranged between $7.99 - $11.99 somehow came out $94+. After realizing that that seemed to be much, we asked for an itemized ticket and realized our observations were correct. They charged us for every side. I mean EVERY side. Now, as this is a normal thing at most restaurants when you order EXTRA sides that are not included in your meal, this was different. The way it is written on the menu and is also communicated at the counter is that, you get a side with your meal that is included in the meal price. SIDES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR MEAL PRICE!!! Please understand that. Hence the ā€œRead MENU pleaseā€ sign written in chalk above the counter. Another reason why the cost was more is because after a %10.5 Credit card fee, they also automatically add gratuity before asking for another tip. Gratuity? Tip? For what? You have given us 0 service. Not even providing cups of water on a day when itā€™s 101Ā°F. If you want water you have to pay $2 for it. Everything is self serve (seating, forks and knives, even grabbing your own $2 bottled water out of the fridge) so why in the world would you add gratuity and then ask for another tip. That put us in an uproar. Food was good average at best. But definitely not worth the drama. Fruit were hit or miss. Seating is tattered and very low in height, so itā€™s difficult to eat at the higher table if you are a height challenged person. Overall I think IHOP is better. Which is probably why there was no waiting time at Maryamā€™s on a Saturday morning brunch on Memorial Day weekend, where every other place we looked first had a 15-30 minute wait. I would not recommend this restaurant, their drinks and coffee might be good. I wouldnā€™t know I didnā€™t get any; However, Houston has so many other great places to brunch and get smoothies in the Heights, that this subpar restaurant does not deserve to have any business period. I hope they can get it together. It seems as if no one really cares about satisfying the customer at all.

Delicious strawberry shortcake waffle. The toffee coffee was good but not great. I'll be back to try the other waffles. Outside is dog friendly and they have dog treats on the menu. There is also a kid play area and tables in the back so definitely family friendly.

Not sure where to start here...so many great things!!! It's family owned and run. The owners are always there and show true caring hospitality. On top of that the food and coffee is always amazing! I wish I could eat there everyday. The child's play area is also a big bonus if you have a toddler.

Such a nice and cozy cafe with delicious food made from organic ingredients! The Italian coffee roast they use makes such exceptional drinks. The staff is so attentive and friendly. Very extensive food, drink and dessert menu! Even a doggy menu. I highly recommend this location. Oh, and their Sunday brunch is a must.

If I could give these people, more like con artists, a 0 star review, I would. They are dishonest and purposefully do not give you an itemized receipt because they secretly charge you for sides you didnā€™t order. They also charge a 10.5 % credit card processing fee for charges over $100. We ordered breakfast for 7 people and the total was $189.86. That seemed high to me so I asked for an itemized receipt. Mike said he would bring it and never did. I stopped at the front as I was leaving and asked again. He said I canā€™t give it to you now because Iā€™m too busy, but you can call later. So I called. He sent me my receipt and the total was $171.83 when they had charged me $189.86 at checkout. What? There were over $20 in extra sides that he added without us ordering them, plus the credit card processing fees. My total of just food and drinks should have been $139.75, plus tax $157.76. With their credit card processing fee, which they claim ā€œthere is a sign BEHIND the register that states thisā€, our total was $174.32. They overcharged me more than $30 and refused to refund my card and would only refund in store credit. Excuse me?! Iā€™m never going back and donā€™t even want the store credit. This is the worst restaurant experience Iā€™ve ever had. Shame on them for their dishonestly. The woman I talked to had the nerve to claim they have never had a customer complaining about what Iā€™m complaining about and insinuated that I was making it up. I told her to read her reviews and learn something about her own business.
