Great place for kids. Early morning before 10 am is best b/c by afternoon it’s a bit out of control with the large number of people. Your child will have to wait in line for certain play equipment and will have limited time on said equipment. Only applies if you teach good manners. Snacks are available, port o potties (no flash toilets), climbing and boulder wall, roller blading and open green space.

A wonderful family park, something for children of all ages. Multiple areas to play and run around. Parents have to have eyes in the back if their head. The park has security present but dressing your kids in something identifiable make it easy to spot them and brings peace of mind. Bring your own water in the winter, the fountains are shut off to prevent freezing. Big kids: bring gloves if you like hanging from the rope bridge, that thing will shred your fingers.

This is hands down the best park in the city. It is clean and very well maintained. It was being touched up yesterday when we visited but even with some areas closed off the children had plenty to do. There is enough room and seating for family outings and even on crowded day's you don't feel claustrophobic there. It does get very crowded some days so I highly suggest you dress your kid in something that makes them easily visible. We usually make sure to take a brightly colored shirt so that we can see them amongst the sea of children. The kids love it, that's for sure. They're shrieks of glee and delight can usually be heard several hundred feet away from the playground. Pack some aspirin for yourself and plenty of water and wipes for the kiddos. They do have a little water play area, so taking a towel wouldn't hurt. They designed this beautifully and I sincerely hope they keep it open for years to come. A must for children if your visiting from out of town or your a Chicago resident like myself.

Best park in all of Chicago. In the winter you can rent skates and skate along the path through the park. Hot chocolate is sold and you can go inside the skate house to warm up. Benches all along the skate path to sit and watch if you don't want to skate. In the summer, there is a multitude of things for kids of all ages to do. The park is quite large with many different venues for all ages. The skyline is so beautiful from the park.

Huge free outdoor playground geared toward ages 2-12. Keeps my toddler entertained for hours! Fun for adults with their kids, too, since it's easy for adults to get in the equipment to help little ones. Flushing toilets nearby. No dogs allowed so no dog poo to navigate. HIGHLY recommended.
