This occurred on February 9th. I was shopping with my husband in the women's section, looking at their Calvin Klein apparel, and needed some assistance with fitting and advice. I went up to Sylvia, who never gave me her name, did not have a name tag, and whose name I didn't get until I asked her manager. Sylvia was not with any customers when I approached her, and I asked Sylvia if she had a moment to help me. She was at the register, and had some clothes in her hands. She asked what do I need help with. I said I need help finding a blazer that fits me, and I needed advice on how to tell if it fits me well. I had earlier purchased a blazer for my husband in the men's section, and they were very helpful in helping him find a good fit. Sylvia then said, "well, I've seen you look around for like a minute, I don't know what I can do." I said, "well are you an expert in this line of wear?" and that I needed her advice. She shrugged and said, "just go try stuff on, I don't know what to say." I was shocked, before long we were raising our voices at one another. I was becoming frustrated that Sylvia was not helping me, just shrugging me off, and acting as if I was bothering her. She said she was busy doing ten things at once, helping customers, I looked around, and said "what customers?" She said, "well, I just had some." To which I responded, that I purposefully came over when she had no customers. I then asked for her name, to which she responded by parroting, "what's your name?" Still in shock that my initial inquiry for help on sizing never got answered by her and that the situation had snowballed into something unnecessary and troublesome. Long story short, she never did give me any advice to my clothes shopping questions, so I asked for her manager Doug, who was helpful in giving me advice about the blazer I was wearing, but who didn't seem to take into account how Sylvia had treated me, and he tried to excuse her behavior by saying the store was liquidating, and that everyone was on edge because they were losing their jobs. This is very unfortunate, however the two people who helped my husband and I earlier were professional and did not let this affect their work. I wound up never getting an apology from anyone, and I left without purchasing anything.

The employees all seem really stressed and angry and take it out on the customers. Overall, very bad experience. Don't shop here unless you want to feel like you are a burden.

Macy's overall has become the tragedy on 34th street. It no longer has the unique quality it once was. Macy's swallowed up the unique experiences that once made department store shopping a fun and joyful time of discovery and purchasing. Shopping at Macy's is bland. The Waterfront store doesn't even have a holiday section with trees and ornaments and other holiday items. They should have Santa on the weekends for children and their families. I was very disappointed with the merchandise overall. Macy's, you have a chance to step in and fill the empty niche that Saks Fifth Avenue left behind. At least become a Bloomingdales and give us some high end unique shopping. NORDSTROM could use a little competition.

The one lady there is just absolutely amazing! She always offers discounts when she can. Helping hand indeed. Unlike the rest! I thank you for your good deeds!

I love this Macy's only for the fact of the employees, they go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for! Incredible service. I do wish they would put a MAC cosmetics counter in here & carry a little bit more of the higher end stuff that the one at Ross Park Mall carried but the service keeps me coming back!!
