::Ruby's Laundromat @ 345 Tompkins is three blocks away, always empty, open late and has the sweetest staff... STAY AWAY FROM M&M. THEY ARE AN UTTER EMBARRASSMENT TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD! The machines don't work. When you seek assistance, the staff are aggressive - it's like they are just dying to pick a fight - and they don't refund your quarters. Instead, they accuse you of trying to scam them. They never following the last wash signs posted in the front. Their hours are so limited and they use up all the machines on drop off jobs so you're constantly waiting for machines. And forget about the dry cleaning service - they ruin items without taking responsibility. The only thing keeping this business afloat is the fact that every human needs to do laundry. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere!

::Very nice people working here, so long as you're polite and courteous. Also, free donuts on Saturdays!

::While the staff do a fine enough job washing/folding/separating the clothes, sometimes it comes with a side of attitude. I have been coming here for quite some time (drop off service). I noticed recently that I've been getting overcharged by 5 dollars for a 5 dollar IKEA MICROFIBER bath mat, which is smaller than a bath towel and tries faster than a tank top. I've tried arguing my side of the story with 3 different staff members, and each time I was told something different. One said that they charge more because it takes longer to dry. FALSE. This is microfiber for a reason, and that is that it dries instantly. Another woman said that they count it as a RUG because you step on it. WHAT? A third woman said that they wash it separately, which is why they charge more. This one really got me, and not because she was plain rude, but because she is saying that they use an entire load to wash this tiny thing?? That is an incredible waste of water and is downright wrong. The outcome: 16 POUNDS of laundry: $13.60 30 OUNCE, microfiber/polyester 3'x 2' bath mat: $5 This has never happened to me at any other laundromat. I'm all about sustaining businesses in the neighborhood but I refuse to be robbed by greedy owners, so from now on, I'm taking my business elsewhere. I recommend that anyone who continues to come here compare their receipts post drop-off and prior to pick-up and check if there is a difference. Or, save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
