  Summary: bread and pasta with meal were horrible. Rushed service. Plus was the main meal tasted good (chicken marsala and lemon shrimp). The pasta that came with the main meal was provided by "whatever the chef has" (no choice for the customer). In our case, undercooked penne. When I saw it go out first from the kitchen, I thought it was a kid's meal. It came with marinara sauce on it too, even though that didn't match our main dishes at all. The bread was dry and cold. I don't recommend this place. Eat pizza bu the slice is you're hungry and you wait for a better place... don't come here

  Food was great! Staff not very attentive and lengthy wait for order to be taken, was not over crowded. Really liked the ambience.

  The food was good with no quality complaints however the service was notibly suffering. Staff were stretched to thin and were poorly managing their tables with pushing the tab being a painful endeavor that took over 20 minutes. A quiet time might see better results.

  Love this place, it's become our go-to spot when we want to eat in the North End. There are literally hundreds of Italian cuisine restaurants in the North End, and many are very good, but we continue to go back to L'Osteria because, unlike some other places, they're a very friendly place -- I get the impression that it's a family business and many of the staff are related. It's quaint, especially at holiday times, and not at all pretentious. Some restaurants we've eaten at in the area seem to give us the vibe that they're doing us a favor by finding a table for us, but the staff here is always patient and accommodating, although they can be a little slow when stretched thin during busy periods. We're not huge drinkers, a single glass of wine or beer is our norm with dinner, and I've felt abandoned by waiters at other places once they realize they're not making a huge liquor charge off of us, but never have that issue here. For my money, they have the best Veal Marsala outside of what my mom cooks, and it's a close second! If you drive in to the city, the best deal around is to park at the Parcel 7 parking lot, get your ticket validated, and you can park for $3.
