NYC ROOM RENTALS 212
::-Dangerous experience! -Worst service EVER! 👎👎👎👎👎 So I've seen this barbershop for years on 125th street and finally decided to get my first haircut from them today on May 2, 2018, a beautiful sunny day in New York City. I walk into the business and jokingly ask "who is the best barber?", all the barbers jokingly respond back and say "oh you gotta come back on Monday" (I knew that was really the day when the barbershop was closed). A tall gentleman who appeared to be a barber walks to me and says he will cut my hair, he was in the next room where the entrance to the barbershop was. I was a bit confused because I remembered years ago the entrance was on the opposite side of the establishment. I always passed by the barbershop for years but just never got a haircut from them. I asked the "barber" for a fade, he says it will be $20 and I say ok as I go out to the bank to take my money out of the ATM. I return, sit in the first chair on the right as you enter the barbershop. He begins cutting my hair and everything is fine, when I asked him to bring it down lower on the sides the barber proceeds to violently explode uncontrollably! He begins complaining about how now I want an entirely new haircut! His hands began to shake from his uncontrollable, sudden and irrational anger as he attempted to give me a shape-up! Midway through the haircut I decided to get up from the chair (something I've never ever done in any barbershop in any country) pay him his $20 and go to another barber who could calmly fix my haircut. This is when this unprofessional so called barber comes and tries to fake intimidate me asking me to come outside because he wanted to "talk", I told him I had nothing to talk to him about and he then explodes again and offers to fight me! I guess his self esteem was hurt or something because he was violently out of line, out of his mind and out of control. I was really surprised because in my mind I was thinking that this individual was making a whole scene with a customer only because the customer asked him to adjust the haircut. All I wanted was a haircut but instead I was faced with extremely verbal violence and intimidation for no reason and this is why I felt uncomfortable in his chair especially since he had sharp objects in his hands as he exploded with anger, very bad vibes and very disrespectful after only asking him to take some hair off the sides! I proceeded to leave the shop as I told the business that this would be my first and LAST time coming to the establishment. I called about 10 mins later to complain about the extremely horrible service that I received, fortunately a very professional person answered my call and told me that they would remedy the situation. I told him that being a barber was way more than just cutting hair, it's about customer service! I later went to another barber shop in Washington Heights (159th street and Broadway) where they fixed my haircut how I liked it and where I had to pay an additional $15. I will NEVER step foot inside "Levels Barbershop on 125th street" ever again! We are now planning to forward this complaint to the authorities, to all media outlets in the tri-state area including The Amsterdam News, local elected official, etc. We do not want a refund/apology as the establishment has respectfully offered, we are requesting for this unprofessional individual to be removed immediately from the establishment, no one deserves that type of unprovoked hostile harassing treatment nor low level service.

::The haircut was horrible. Had to make a second trip for the barber to fix it. It's not the haircut that was the issue. The issue is, the other barbers seen that the haircut was horrible and said nothing to me or the barber who cut it and allowed me to walk out the door. So it's the quality of service I received that earned them the 1 star. BUT THE BARBER STILL CAN'T CUT. I would not recommend this place to no one .

::Larry is a fantastic barber. Get on his schedule early though because he gets booked. Great neighborhood established barbershop with many talented barbers.

::After visiting a barber school for cheap cuts, I can assure you, I'm never going back. Before I went to the 125th location, I read up on reviews and was pleased that they were as amazing as most people said they were. I got my hair cut by Akeem, and he was thorough and detailed. He was sure to ask me about what I wanted before getting started, and answered all my questions. We had a really great convo, AND he offered me some ORS oil sheen, which was a nice touch. The cut was definitely worth the price - I walked out feeling myself.

::I had been going to a salon on 59 & Lex, but I wanted a shorter cut. My stylist wasn't a barber, so I tried this place. Eddy is great, but not a fan of most of the surrounding conversation. Or the loud and obnoxious rap another barber played.
