The two blocks stretch between O'Farrell and Eddie has six Thai restaurants to choose from, so after trying Lers Ros and Pak Nam Thai Noodle Bar, I decided to give Lapats Thai Noodle Bar a try. On a Sunday afternoon there was only 1 table occupied so it looked pretty empty. After going through the menu, I decided to get the Kuay Teow Nuer Num Tok ($12.95) which is sliced beef, beef ball, in spicy Thai herb beef blood soup. After ordering it was a short 10-minute wait and I was on my way. This time I got two containers a plastic container for the broth and a paper box for the noodles. This meant that I had to dunk the noodles into the container for the broth which made eating this very messy. The broth was your typical two layered variety with a lot of spices on the bottom. Taste wise it was pretty good. It had a little zing that made it different from the run of the mill boat noodle soup broth. The noodles were also cooked well which ensured that they did not clump up. Overall, I liked what I got. Price-wise this was the most expensive of the lot, being 10% more than Lers Ros and 30% more than Pak Nam. Taste wise it was in the middle with Pak Nam being better and Lers Ros being worse than Lapats. Looking at the overall package of quality, service and price I'd rate it at 3.5 stars rounded down to 3.

Delicious food and moderately hip ambiance. Not too crowded on the Friday night I visited, which was nice.
