The entrance building is sometimes crowded. There are often smokers around the building, no one likes second hand smoke. It is a family court that hears cases involving children and families and handles issues such as child abuse and neglect, adoption, child custody and visitation, domestic violence, guardianship, juvenile delinquency, paternity, persons in need of supervision, and child support. In New York City, it has concurrent jurisdiction with the New York City Criminal Court for family offenses. Family Court does not have jurisdiction over divorces, which must be litigated in the Supreme Court, and although Criminal Court domestic violence parts typically hear all cases involving crimes against intimate partners. -Wikipedia

The first day I was sent on a run around the building for different forms for the same computer system of 2 departments where all staff have nasty attitudes and speak as though they are dictating you. Then wait 4 hours with no courtesy of an update from the nasty attitude unprofessional female at the window who's greeting is a frustrated tone of "next!". I state that "I have been waiting 4 hours and have to leave when should I come back to complete this visit?'. She then states in a loud condescending tone " I don't know what your here for, NO! I'm going to give you your papers back and you come another day." Disgusting rude and unprofessional female, before me having to leave because I have a life and had to pick up my child from school. Some staff need to be fired for lack of courtesy, zero professionalism, loud mouths, no manners, and poor skills. The same female actually had an attitude and shouting argument with another client! Nasty uncivilized disruptive people arguing and shouting and cursing in the area. It was like being in a jungle of screaming roaring animals. Second day I went, same hostile environment and people and waited again 3 hours before finally being called in by a person who didn't greet me or introduce himself.

Got to the window at 4:40 p.m. on a Tuesday and was told that my paperwork could not be accepted because it was after 4 p.m. I did not know about this rule as it was not posted anywhere. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor (who I won't name here) told me that it is "city-wide protocol to stop accepting paperwork after 4 p.m." Has anyone else heard of this rule? The supervisor proceeded to accept my paperwork like he was doing me a favor, and said that he'd have it handled like a "Mail-In". The mail-in process takes longer but regrettably I had no other choice so I accepted it. The moral of the story is be prepared for there to be hidden arbitrary rules made by the supervisors that are and inconvenience and that don't serve the public well.

Secured area. Cops and security guards everywhere. When I was new to this area, I asked for help. And the cops who were on duty help me finding where I was going. No doubt about their service. Everyone is helpful.
