Sandwiches as big as your face! Love the no-frills decor of the place and the traditional, grumpy waiting service (even though I'm sure they're putting on an act!). Prices are a little high, but you do get a load of food and they're happy to wrap it up and allow you to take your sandwich to go. There is even a small gift shop offering tees and sweatshirts! Had a great meal there, highly recommended.

Quite an experience! Kind of one of those things that you have to do at least once just cos it's so iconic to New York! Expect there to be a line! We were there at before 3 and had to wait for over 30min. It's an interesting system, you queue, get given a ticket, then line up again at each of the slicing stations. Put through your order (try to decide beforehand), before they start preparing they'll slice a little of the meat for you test! Kind of an interesting and fun little quirk! Once you get your sandwich (I recommend getting half pastrami and half corned beef so you get to try both!! 😆😆), take back the ticket (the food preparer would have noted the total price on it) you find yourself a table. Don't lose the ticket!! Apparently it's $50 to replace! Not sure whether it's true but that's what the sign says. One sandwich will easily feed two people! We were not v hungry and us two girls only managed at most a bit more than half. There's loads of meat. The corned beef has more flavour cos it's slight saltier but pastrami was more tender. I'm not massive meat eater but I thoroughly enjoyed it. 😋 Once you're done with your meal you head back towards the entrance to pay if you're settling in cash. Otherwise there's another cashier towards the back of the restaurant if you're paying by card. Worth checking out! Russ and Daughters is just down the street so you can easily smash both in the one go (which is what we did)!! Enjoy!!

One of those places that you just have to go to. Food is plentiful and tasty. Ruben sandwich with added pastrami was awesome. Only reason I gave 4 stars is, even though they have multiple service lines to order and have your food prepared while you wait, the cutters (as they are called) are too bloody friendly!!! This means long waits because they chat and offer tastings to everyone. Great when you are trying to decide what to order, bad if you are a little impatient. Go there understanding that, and you will have a 5 star experience.

I just had to check out this place when I was in town, and I was actually super impressed! Despite how busy it was, we were seated relatively quickly. Our waiter was the typical grumpy dude you'd expect, but he was pretty funny and actually provided great service. Sandwiches were great; their Reuben was fantastic and nearly impossible to finish because of the sheer amount of fresh pastrami in it. Atmosphere is pretty incredible; it was honestly way more than I expected and I would go back in a heartbeat. It seems representative of a classic New York deli, and its impressive how it's stayed that way despite its buzz. Also, as others have pointed out: make sure to hang on to your ticket!

Amazing place. When you go in younger given a ticket and then you get served straight away. No queues apart from outside if it's busy!! When you're served you give your ticket over and they mark the price onto your ticket so you can keep getting more then you hand over your ticket to pay at the end. If you lose it then it costs $50 so be careful.!! A great selection of food and well worth the money for to the amount you get and the standard of the food.
