  Our experience was fantastic. The food and atmosphere were excellent and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Unlike what I read at other reviews the portions were quite good and service was fast despite an extremely busy Saturday night.The fried fish was a perfection and the beef was very tender and full of flavor.

  Don’t waste your time with this place. It’s cool inside, but there are much better places all around it along the wharf. The food was ok, but the service was awful. Waiter didn’t seem to know or care about the menu when we asked for recommendations. To top it off, the bar didn’t know how to make an old fashioned. For goodness sake, it’s an old fashioned. And then they charged us $16 each for something that wasn’t even close. Too pricey for a mediocre experience.

  I gave it one star because it is a really beautiful restaurant, but the food was a total failure. The chicken adobo was so sour that we had to wash it down with water, the rice was so watery; almost paste like. How do you mess up two staples of Filipino cuisine? The portion sizes are more of an appetizer size. At first, we didn’t think twice about the price considering it’s location, but was beyond disappointed when the small plates arrived. We ordered two dishes, and they showed up about ten minutes apart. I guess the consolation of having to eat horrible food was that we didn’t have much to eat. Also, everyone had nice uniforms, but the hosts were in street clothes. If you didn’t know they worked there, you would think they were waiting for a table. I don’t normally write reviews, but I have been waiting for this place to open up since it was announced, but very disappointed!!!

  Sat at the bar for a meal, and thought every dish was spectacular! Tried the green beans, Filipino Street BBQ, and the raw fish/avocado dish. Everything was delicious, and the BBQ in particular was tender and had amazing flavor. Reasonably priced at around $50 for two people, although we didn't try any of the drinks or desserts.

  Pretty much on board with the rest of the reviewers. If it hadn’t been for the great company I was with, I would’ve left. If a restaurant charges as much as Kaliwa, they should be employing fully trained and experienced wait staff. Our waitress was spaced out, obviously in over her head, not familiar with the menu. Drinks took way too long (we ordered wine, not like any complicated cocktail). And though the food was very good, it was solidly overpriced. The other thing I’ll say in their favor, the wine was incredible. All that being said, I give the benefit of the doubt for a restaurant that is just getting started, and I will likely be back in the coming months for some pork belly and more of that awesome vino.
