Julia Knit Inc does not deserve any stars in my opinion due to poor management. But in order to write this review I had to at least put 1 star to a company who ROBBED ME! BE AWARE!!! On August 17, 2016 the creative director emailed me after an interview the previous week with the company. The email stating that the creative director wanted me to come in with another potential candidate to do a weeks trial together and at the end of the week then we would get a review to see who was best suitable for the position. I decided not to back down from a challenge and immediately called the director as was asked to do to accept the weeks trial and ask about any questions I had concerning the trial. So I called and let the director know I would be able to make it to NY that coming Monday and stay in NY for a week as my living situation wouldn't be of any problem. The director went on to say my daily hours every day would be 9am-6pm and even went on to say " Don't worry about pay, you will be compensated for the week, It will probably be around $500.00 for the week. so I said great and before we hung up she said she would send me a conformation detailing everything we spoke about including pay and our conversation ended with see you on Monday. So Monday comes and I reached in before my competition arrived and was given a computer. So my competitor comes in and gets right on her computer and goes into outlook emails and is all set up with everything then says to me this is her 3rd day. At that point in time I became very confused because already this girl has a head start ahead of me now I am sitting there learning pointers from her and looking on at her computer at what she is doing because I could not access anything from my computer. At 1 point I remember the director being so busy with other things that she literally asked my competition to show me how to do something. How could this be the person i am competing against for the same job showing me how to do something?? Then it hit me that same day this is my competition because it was quite clear that this girl didn't even want to show me how to do anything. I actually asked her questions before I came to realize this girl and me are competing for the same job. Monday at 6:30pm I left there knowing that the caucasian girl who started 2 days before me had that job. I wanted to leave NY pack my bags and go home but after speaking with my mom I decided to stick it out because who knew if she was going to leave 2 day prior to me leaving since that would only be fare. So I stuck it out and each day I came in to work to a limited access computer which did not have email or skype set up for me to use. I was also told by the director that all emails would be access through my competitors computer since everything was set up already on her computer and vendors were already emailing her back and forth since she had been there 2 days before me. What the director failed to realized that I never got that experience of communicating to vendors through email and skype because it was not on my computer and hard to get that experience using someone else computer. Also Foxtrot program which was needed in order to search style numbers efficiently was not working on my computer. Which put me at another disadvantage. Friday came and my competition had completed 7 days where as I only had 5 days. I was called out of the office on Friday and told "my competitor picked up quicker than I did" and needless to say they decided to go with her. I wasn't even mad that I didn't get chosen because I knew I wasn't since monday. It was the unfairness behind the whole situation that had me. Then the director gives me $250.00 CASH non taxed and told me I was free to go when I worked over 40 hours that week. How degrading did that made me feel when I realized I was paid around $5.68 an hour after all those long extended hours of work.GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. NOT A GOOD PLACE TO WORK.THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE AND A SCAM!!! I never got my conformation letter so they paid me what they felt like paying me.
