  Was in Silver Spring for two nights from NYC. Somewhat sad little pop-up sign advertising the place on the street outside an empty office building... I went in after the third pass because I felt well, someone has to, for the sake of vinyl. And whoever Joe is. In the basement store, the 5,000 plus square feet that is Joe's was packed with records, of course, and people; also VHS tapes, CD's, and God knows what else. Found immediately two records I've been looking for since 1992. A separate 'rare finds' section, excellent idea. Staff really friendly, know their stuff - listening stations which I rarely use but did on this occasion - and recommendations on stuff I've never heard of. Walked out with an armful of records, weird stuff, rare stuff, stuff to make your eyes water. The prices reasonable or a steal. Hands down the single best record store I've been to in either the U.S. or the U.K. (Second best is Groovy Graveyard, Asbury Park NJ).

  Great selection of used and collectible vinyl, plus dvds and other music related merch.

  Excellent record store with huge selection. Prices are very reasonable. People are friendly. Gotta go to the basement of office building to get to it which is a bit weird but when you're inside it's awesome. Condition of vinyl is consistently good. I always find a few things each visit. Street parking is normally available.

  Great selection of records across a wide range of genres including jazz, rock, folk and even some classical. Lots of fun to browse and look for gems! And their prices seem pretty reasonable.

  Fantastic selection at reasonable prices. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. They buy and trade at decent rates too.
