  Wow! I'm really only putting one star because it's essential to making a comment. Staff are incredibly rude, and apparently not terribly smart either, if the lady I dealt with on the phone is anything to go by. I'm sure the people doing the physical work are just fine, but when these customer service folk are charged with coordinating appointments and leave you with nothing but a headache, it unfortunately brings down the entire experience. I'd bypass in future and will most definitely encourage my building management company to do the same.

  On the phone they said "we don't go up that far in Manhattan"... which totally confused me because I live in midtown, near grand central station, which is basically the center of the island...

  Initial message was ignored - apparently they confused requesting an appointment with someone else checking if a part was in yet. Once they did schedule an appointment, they were very pushy about making sure we would be prepared to pay immediately. Tech was surly at first to my wife, behaved better when I walked in. Didn't explain the problem, just quoted a price and pumped freon into the refrigerator, without even trying to identify the leak or patch it. A couple of hours later, hey, guess what? Fridge is leaking freon to the point where we can smell it and get a headache from going near it. That's money wasted on a "repair" instead of just replacing it because they didn't provide any information to allow our landlord to decide if it was worth the fix or if he should just replace the unit entirely. I had a very strong impression that the tech didn't care about doing the job right, he cared about getting the job over with and getting paid.

  The other reviews speak volumes. I would give them ZERO stars if I could. I waited all day for 4 days. Getting the same "he'll be there between 10 and 1" bullshit from the lady at the shop. On the day the guy allegedly made it to my building, he couldn't find a spot so he blocked a driveway. When someone told him to move, he just left. Newsflash: Parking in Brooklyn is hard!! The woman at the shop was barely apologetic and just told me to "call the insurance company and complain". I have never never experienced such anger and frustration. STAY AWAY!

  Been using Jimmy's for almost 20 years! service techs are all knowledgeable, courteous, and honest! Recently called for service on my out-of-warranty Electrolux range. Original appt needed to be rescheduled for following day since the tech had a family emergency. Next morning the OWNER (Jimmy) arrived, diagnosed the issue, had the part in his truck, & fixed everything within 40 min. Plus gave me some free tips on how to run my dishwasher more efficiently!
