  Avoid it in March, when there are no roses. I can imagine it's beautiful when the roses are blooming, off season there is nothing to see. The garden is pretty small.

  It was a really nice place to visit quickly after the Japanese tea garden (just opposite). The roses were not in bloom as it was winter but I can only imagine what a treat it would be to the senses in the summer!! Very peaceful

  I cannot believe how many roses are in this place. And I don't just mean quantity either. There's seemingly endless varieties. The cool thing is each variety is well labeled with a detailed plaque. I highly recommend finding the big info sign thing the details it's history and purpose. Seriously though... Dress nice and bring a good camera. Perfect beauty for a photoshoot.

  Walking down these steps into the garden gives a tiny peak of of downtown Portland. On a sunny day like we were fortunate enough to have, you can soak in the sun and admire the beauty growing around you. Something about being around flowers and trees just really relaxes the human spirit. This getaway from downtown is really just minutes away, and a beautiful drive. Adjacent to the Japanese Garden, this one is a great free alternative but I'd highly recommend both!

  If you love to garden, appreciate roses or flowers, or love a well manicured landscape you have to come see this place. There are dozens to hundreds of different type rose varieties. Because of the weather in Oregon there are some in bloom almost all year round. Not only is the garden beautiful but the view from here is excellent too. On top of a hill that overlooks much of the city. Also check out the Polish Holocaust memorial within the garden area!
