Don't bother to go downtown, pay for parking, get through security for the IRS unless, you have an appointment!! Even though I noticed, online that the tax office on Spruce was stated that no appointment is necessary. I was sadly mistaken. I was able to use their phone and set up an appointment, but they don't make same day appointments. Time is precious and mine was sorely wasted.

I visited the St Louis IRS office today. I had an appointment and was seen promptly. Gwen Jefferson assisted me. She was very nice, polite and knowledgeable. I had a pleasant IRS experience. Also, when I called to make the appointment a week earlier, the woman that I spoke to was very nice and accommodating.

The Right to Quality Service Taxpayers have the right to receive prompt, courteous, and professional assistance in their dealings with the IRS, to be spoken to in a way they can easily understand, to receive clear and easily understandable communications from the IRS, and to speak to a supervisor about inadequate service.

Went there to get W2 transcripts and the only person there would not acknowledge my presence. Instead she strutted around, saying, "don't people know it's by APPOINTMENT ONLY here??" I was the only person there. Then I waited patiently and she finally came over to me and said "do you have an appointment? The waiting area is in THE CAFE, NOT here! You have to have an appointment to be in this office!" I said I did not know I needed an appointment, I just need help getting my W2 transcripts, something easily printed off. She said she would not help me until her earliest appointment, July 14. This is June 14. I'm wondering why there is even an IRS office if taxpayers can't rely one bit on them for even a minute amount of service? Calling the IRS 1800 number kept me on hold for nearly an hour. Then I was told, under no uncertain terms, would they release my W2 transcripts to me because I could be an identity thief. I successfully answered all their questions to verify my identity and they still could be of absolutely no assistance for the most simplest task. I've been a victim of identity theft the past two years with my tax return money being stolen. They gave the thief no trouble, that's why it keeps coming back every year for my money! Seems like they wait with open arms for my tax dollars, hand part off to thieves, then completely shut down when I need something, that you and I pay for! Disgusting.
