  A beautiful and historic hotel. We had a great view of the Washington Monument. The staff was nothing short of polite and professional. Some history I learned while staying at the hotel: This hotel has hosted every president as either a sleeping guest or as a guest at a social function since Zachary Taylor in 1850. The words to the song “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” were written here. Ulysses S. Grant would sit in the lobby and have a brandy and cigar. People would approach him in the lobby regarding their individual causes which led Grant to call these people lobbyists. Other famous guess the hotel include mark twain, Walt Whitman, Harry Houdini, the Barrymore‘s, Mae West, Elizabeth Taylor and Muhammad Ali. The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King finished his “I Have A Dream” speech here.

  Something is strange when a hotel of this caliber installs a roomsafe that removes 75% of the closet space. Look closely at the photo. The safe is just under the hanging bar used for your clothing. Many of the rooms are this way. (However the suites have plenty of space to hang up your clothing.) So unless you have reserved a suite, expect to live out of your suitcase. Nice hotel otherwise, however for the price: Do you really want to live out of your suitcase?

  Undergoing renovations, but I saw no sign of it whilst there for three days. Absolutely beautiful location with kind and caring staff. A great location for an event. These five stars are for Phil on the AV team, who helped me with the audio/video setup in the ballroom, and for the Turkish lad Ali who worked the front desk and told me he enjoyed Vegemite. He might have been lying but it was a great story! Highly recommend this venue.

  Was a wonderful experience... Loved the bar downstairs in the lobby.. Rooms were great. The only issue I had was a couple of bug bites we believe from the robe. So just make sure you ask for a new clean one. Other than that Wonderful.. The young lady at the front desk done everything in her power to get us a room last minute.

  Was there for a wedding. The place is steeped in history. Some areas of the hotel still hold the feel of the past - such as the Round Robin bar. While the event and reception areas seemed light and elegant...and more modern in interior design. The staff was also professional and on point. If you're attending a wedding here, highly recommend coming early enough to grab a drink at the bar and stroll through the lobby.
