I have rated this store before and usually give it 4 or 5 stars, but today was an exercise in frustration. I had just a handful of items so i opted to use the self check outs because I was in a hurry. The self checkout was impossible to use with any speed whatsoever. My husband was bagging things while I scanned and every time he out something in a bag, the register stopped and told me there was an unexpected item in the bagging area. The level of frustration was overwhelming and I ended up leaving my husband to finish the checkout while I went to my truck to contemplate becoming an alcoholic. I DON’T WORK FOR YOU HY-VEE! Self checkouts should be user-friendly. Yours are NOT!

Hy-Vee used to be the cheaper of the grocery store chains. I don't know if it was intentional, but, they have turned the tables. It is now the place to go to spend more than necessary. Also, there's not "a helpful smile in every isle" like there used to be.

Visited the recycling center at the location on Broadway in Council Bluffs. The gentleman working the counter was very friendly and helpful. However, we initially visited the Hy-Vee on Madison Ave. and talk about rudeness! That store exhibits poor customer service at its best. We were treated like second rate citizens by the smarmy girl at the customer service desk. I WILL NEVER shop another Hy-Vee in Council Bluffs again.

We lived near Kansas City for a number of years. Well, we did a lot of our grocery shopping from Aldi. We always enjoyed the options and the sales that Hy-Vee had. We have not moved away from that area to a smaller town and the grocery stores are awful and more expensive and never have any good sales. For that reason we miss Hy-Vee. We only visited this one because we are in Omaha for a concert and wanted to grab some snacks.

The store is always clean. Clerks and stockers are helpful if you ask a question about a product you are looking for. Always lots of choices on the shelves. As well as in the bakery department. Sue
