  This review is aimed at the bank's 24/7 helpline, not any particular branch. Went into this branch on a Saturday morning to open a checking account and get a debit card. All the staff I dealt with (especially John) were great. I tried to use said debit card in the afternoon and it kept getting declined. I called the 24/7 so-called "help" line, and they told me that their system was down and to call back in 30 minutes. After calling 30 minutes later, I get the same cookie-cutter response about calling back in a half hour. I tried to call the branch on Wetmore because it was the only one open and its a 30 minute drive for me to go there. I was transferred back to the menu for the "help" line instead of the branch. I ask another representative to transfer me to the Wetmore branch, and after a 2-3 minute wait, she transfers me back to the helpline menu. I called back again to be transferred to the Wetmore branch and was instead sent to a card "specialist" who couldn't help me either. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a banking institution. Not sure if I'll keep my account with them or take my money elsewhere.

  I had gone in to the bank to deposit money for my daughter into the car loan account that my husband and my daughter share, remind you I'm trying to put money in the account and for almost 15min I'm being told no I can't do that because I'm not on the account. No other bank or credit union have I been told that I couldn't deposit money into an account, I'm not removing money I'm adding money to the account. I was trying to help my daughter because she moved back east and my husband was in the hospital so I was trying to put money into the account before the car payment was due. After about 15-20 min and calls to my daughter and husband so they could answer questions was I finally able to deposit the money

  I can tell most of the low reviews are coming from the after hours call center the bank uses. They have always been less than helpful to me. Everything else about this bank has been fantastic. They have great tellers, fair terms on loans, and good customer service in the bank. As somebody who has experienced the frustration of the after hours call center I would rather the phone system say to call during hours and only transfer me to the call center if I needed to report a card lost/stolen.

  I have always used credit unions over banks, as they are more flexible. We have been members of Hughes for almost two years now, and customer service is always great, and very helpful.

  I came here just to get quarters and they were kind enough to help out. However they wouldn't assist on cashing checks and said to have an account you need about $ 50.00 consistent in the account which some can afford other's may not. The only reason I'll rate 4 out of 5 is because they couldn't help me with exactly what I was hoping but hope maybe they'll consider cashing non Hughes check's would be more helpful. Other than that it's nice clean neat has an ATM but be warned of your card for it says certain banks cards will be destroyed by machine if non Hughes so I'd ask before you insert your card if the ATM will take it. 5 Stars when I can cash a check with a fee regardless of the bank the check's from.
