  they were understaffed and our simple meal of sandwiches and slices of pie took a total of 2 hours. In that 2 hours our coffee cups were filled 2 times. There was a fruit fly on one of our pie slices, and the table was busted and filthy with old food in the crevasse and used up sugar packets in the condiment basket. The pictures on the wall were old, faded, and splattered with brown stuff. When I used the restroom I couldn't stop coughing due to the overwhelming "air freshener" scent The manager, an older Asian woman, was of no help at all, she just stood around while her employees are overworking due to being understaffed. The pies and sandwiches were really good

  Sometimes you don't have to go far to get good food. House of Pies is a vintage diner that offer good food and delicious pies. It is located at Vermont and Franklin avenues in Los Feliz neighborhood. HOP interior design is simply quaint but it's atmosphere is very relaxing; it is clean, organized, spacious and well lit. Staff are friendly, nice and professional. Service is moderately slow. Food is fresh and taste great. For lunch, I ordered their classic Philly cheese steak w/ mixed fruits. Both bread and meat are tasty, juicy and soft; its cheese was melted to perfection. The fruits are sweet and fresh. The best part of their menu are the pies and the all day breakfast. For breakfast, I had their house of pies combo special (3 stacks pancakes, 2 ham, 2 bacon, wheat bread and eggs). Their buttermilk pancakes are really soft, fluffy and tasty. Eggs, ham and bacon are cooked to perfection. Prices are relatively fair. Parking lot is small but street parking is available. Overall, I had a good experience and I highly recommend HOP.

  Good food... But when we went there the service is taking a while for food to arrived... Though it is still but good, and many dine with family or friends and you can tell definitely by those.. it is a place were you go to experience what's been some are talking of..

  The place looks a little rundown, but don't let it fool you. The pies are delicious!! The service is great. All of the waiters are super friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!!

  A Classic My family is a customer of House of Pies over the last decade. Our kids basically grew up on those booths (recently renovated, by the way). It's the classic diner experience: large menu, lots of people, from breakfast to dinner. Food has been consistently over the years, which is not necessarily a good thing when you go at least once a week. Meaning, you know what you'll get, but improvement or changes is not one of them them. Some of the staff is there for a long time, so they take good care of you. The pies are amazing. I favor the Strawberry Cheesecake, but it goes out of season when appropriate, so check with them before going in just for it. Cookies are nice. Parking (free) sometimes is full. Many people stop there but visit other venues, so full parking lot doesn't necessarily mean a crowded House of Pies.
