  Buyer beware! I placed an online order with these people and received only half my order. I immediately complained through email and messages on their web site. I was ignored for almost two weeks. I finally got a message from them saying they would ship the rest of my order out. Never got it because they never sent it. Tried to get back in touch and was ignored again. I had to get with my credit card agency and go through all kinds of paperwork and send proof of the correspondence with these people. Then I had to wait 10 business days and get back with my credit card agency to give Hot Damn Tamales a chance to respond. My credit card agency was also ignored. Finally after a month and a half of dealing with this I got HALF my money back.

  1st good tamales, 2nd wonderful staff and 3rd they really appreciate their customers. They had a terrible situation over Christmas, with shipment, weather, raw products, then a sad family event really overall tough time. Bottomline: my recipients were we're all over joyed and the delay in shipping proved perfect timing.

  Just received an order I placed on December 3 that I had to send 3 emails about (no response ever) and call for status. It's missing a dozen and a half tamales and what I did receive was packaged poorly. I'm not even sure they are safe to eat. Left a message 4 hours ago and haven't gotten a call back and now their voice mail is full. Sent another email, but likely won't get any replies. I have a party on Friday that I will now need to go out and find tamales for in NYC. Totally not cool. I ordered two years ago with no issue, but something has changed. I like their tamales but will not order again. The cost of shipping is ridiculous and their lack of response to a customer who placed an order of over $200 tells me they really don't care. Very disappointed.

  TERRIBLE. For everything you have read that was good about this place, it's now all gone, and everything you read that was wrong is TRIPLED at least. I used to love this place, but the ownership has ran into the ground. The best parts of this restaurant was the buffet, and the little sweet lady who served you (she's been canned), and the open atmosphere. Since then they've cancelled the buffet, said they cut their offerings in half because the sweet old lady isn't there to make it and closed off more than half the restaurants space so it feels like you're ordering food in a broom closet. The owner was incredibly rude and refused to help me, instead she said I can wait on her son to get out of the freezer. Overall TERRIBLE service and terrible product, which is a sad decline from what I used to know about this establishment

  Ok here is the deal. If you are going to have a restaurant have food available for sale. Pretty basic. The tamales were okay. Most were frozen then reheated which is not what we wanted. The salsa is excellent. Do better, being "hip"only works for so long. My opinion is if you want authentic tamales, go to the north side and skip the coolness factor.
