  This was a nice hotel within easy walking distance of the river walk and other downtown attractions. For the price it was really good quality, however we could not get our room to cool down! The staff was very nice, and the valet was fantastic as he ran back and forth to collect people's cars. There is NO onsite parking. We were not prepared for that. The continental breakfast was good, but the coffee one morning was very weak, and the next morning it was full of coffee grounds.

  Pros: Originally a county jail, the hotel has a very interesting history. The professional staff was very friendly and accomodating. Located on the west side of downtown, you can easily walk to most tourist sites and riverwalk, the Alamo, etc. Just head east on Houston St. Excellent hot breakfast in the morning with a great variety to select from The room was clean and the A/C was incredible. Cons: As others have mentioned, only valet parking is available at $15/night. The hotel is in a construction zone. Roads are temporarily closed during various times of the day. The GPS on the car kept telling me to drive through a barricade to get to the hotel. My room really should be updated soon, just routine wear and tear, nothing terrible. One concern, the door locking mechanism on my room was misaligned. I had to slam the hell out of the door to get the lock to align properly.

  If you're into San Antonio history, this hotel nails it. It used to be an old prison. The bars are still on the front windows. The places has a certain vibe to it. We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was great, staff was extremely nice. Cons: Valet parking ONLY!! But they are speedy at getting your vehicle.

  The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable. The only parking is valet parking which is an additional charge per day that naturally means a tip for the nice person taking care of my car. This ran the daily price up. I initially chose to stay here due to price but the the additional costs made the price comparable to the nicer hotels closer to the event centers and river walk. Next time I will stay somewhere else.

  Great little hotel. They had valet which was always very quick. The two women at front desk were super nice and our stay here was great. Some would say the rooms are small but they had super high ceilings. The hotel was walking distance to the restaurants and venue we went to during our stay.
