Has really nice architecture on the outside. Has some outdoor seating. Full of information about the native Americans with actual rooms where you can walk in and see how their living situation was like back then. They also sell a lot the similar items in the museum but they cost a lot, even the little dolls that I thought of buying as a suvenier

Beautiful grounds. Extensive native American collection. Fascinating history that wasn't taught in school on how we treated these people. Elaborate gift shop. Awesome food at the cafe. Wonderful bookstore too. A must see!

American Indian art and culture - Fantastic! Must see! This was my first visit to Phoenix and Heard Museum was in my top 5 list! The art is beautiful and fascinating. The Indian Boarding School exhibit is gut-wrenching. "Few people realize that American Indians were forced by the federal government to attend residential boarding schools located hundreds of miles from home." Photos of children forced to march in the desert, first hand accounts of the boarding school experience. We need to see this to understand our history.

We visited on the First Friday of April which meant admission was free. As a result the museum had additional events occurring. They were playing a full-length documentary about Native American influence on rock and roll which had eye-opening information. There was also a live performance by Samantha Crane. The exhibits within the museum held many beautiful and important artifacts and art pieces. It was definitely well worth the visit and I would recommend to anyone visiting Phoenix.

The Heard Museum taught me just how ignorant I was when it comes to the Native Americans. I was deeply touched by the school exhibit, & can only imagine how awful it was for those Indian children. I loved the exhibit featuring the works of T.C. Cannon , & also the jewelry of Robert Chavez. I was amazed by the ledger drawings that survived from the 1800's, they were absolutely amazing!! I am not a fan of the city, but the Heard Museum was like a little piece of Heaven in the center of the city. It was peaceful & serene. The cafe was also wonderful. The food was excellent & the staff was very courteous. I plan to go back to the museum, as one cannot adequately see everything in a single day.
