  This community health and fitness center has recently opened and is well worth joining. Its so hard to get out and do something for your health regularly, especially in the winter, I really need a place where people care whether I get there or not! Harlem Wellness has fun and friendly classes and Vivian makes a point to get to know all the members, so she helps keep me committed. I started attending Vivian's yoga classes in 2008, and so I was delighted to hear that she was planning to open her own non-profit wellness center right here in Harlem. Of course I am supporting it in any way I can. I've attended the Saturday morning Yoga class for the last three weeks and they've been excellent. The teaching style felt familiar and it turned out the instructor used to teach at Yogaworks (which is also a great studio but very expensive). The start-up studio space in the Dempsey Center is small but friendly and has a nice vibe to it, and the classes are very affordable. You can do a membership package, where you can attend as many classes as you like, or do a drop in class. I haven't tried the Zumba or Pilates classes yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so.
