  If you want cheap answers, go to the chains. If you want the right answer, go to Bill at Dumont Hardware. The local hardware store is a dying breed, which makes places like Dumont Hardware all the more precious. What they don't have, they can get for you, and what they do have in abundance is good advice. Bill not only knows hardware, he also knows Dumont and the surrounding communities. What you get when you buy from him is confidence, and, while it's hard to put a price on confidence, its value is quite clear.

The charge will be 12 cents, not $2.50 for a sealed bag of 15 screws that you will never use again. Sales are calculared on a brown paper bag. If not carried, Bill will tell you the best place to find the item, usually a contractor's supply shop that welcomes non-contractors.
