  Went here after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle and had no doubt this was the best hospital to go to for traumas. Unfortunately I had to go via ambulance but was seen right away. All doctors were very professional and thorough. The attending in the ER did a good job teaching and guiding the residents at the same time they were looking me over. Unfortunately I had to have surgery to my elbow and couldn't be happier with the excellent service I got by Dr. Michael Githens and his team in orthopedics. I am slowly recovering but would absolutely recommend this hospital for any sort of trauma, especially car accidents. I see some people have posted bad reviews here which is a shame because Harborview has been around for many, many years and unlike a lot of other hospitals, they do not turn ANYONE away and thus sometimes the wait time in the ER can be really long, especially depending on the types of emergencies patients have when they come in. Also, while I didn't experience rude staff members, I can't blame them if they're having a tough day. I was there for 2 days, didn't have a room because they were so full and was in a large room with 23 other people. We were divided by curtains only. One gentleman was handcuffed to his bed and had a police officer watching him. Another person was coming off of heroin. These staff members deal with the most difficult cases and take the patients the other hospitals don't want. Give them a break. We've all had a bad day at work. Also, keep in mind this is a TEACHING hospital, so the docs in the ER might be still learning the ropes and thus take a little longer. They don't want to get sued for malpractice, they're required to do rotations and everyone's definition of an 'emergency' is different. Simply put- they triage and deal with the worst cases first, so sorry, sometimes you just have to wait. Hats off to Dr. Githens, the orthopedic trauma team and the ER docs for their thorough work and attention to detail. I would come here again in a heartbeat depending on the type of trauma I'm experiencing!

  These folks joined the Compassion Revolution some years ago and the difference is a complete turn around to serve the community. Love these folks!

  Our friend was met at the cruise ship and quickly diagnosed as needing to go to a trauma hospital. Can't say enough positive things about the response he received upon arrival. On a scale of 1 to 10 this hospital is a 15.

  The staff at Harbor View Medical were so amazing. My youngest son just had surgery and they have been so extremely helpful and caring. My son and I were very confident in the surgeon, nurses, anesthesiologist team, and all the doctors that made my son feel comfortable and were nice enough to even help me, the nervous mom, feel better. I will highly recommend this place and gladly give all staff the best reviews.
