  I am being generous leaving 3 stars for this bar. I came here a few weeks ago to see my friend's country band. The bartender was pleasant and service was great. However, the bar was very empty for a Thursday night and the patrons who were there seemed to be more into their phones than paying attention to the live music. The few folks who were there really kept to themselves and were not friendly or social. Also when the band took a break, the music playing in the background was not even country. Why not at least have the jukebox turned on when the band takes a break, so patrons can play what they want to hear instead of being forced to listen to the bar's boring background music? I noticed the jukebox had some good CDs in it, but it was turned off even when band took a break. Perhaps I just came here on an off-night, but it seems even though this bar tries to be all about live music, the millennial patrons who come here do not care about the music. This bar lacks energy and livliness. I know Hanks is expected to close for good this Fall. Hopefully they find a new location where they can attract a more lively crowd. Maybe a neighborhood like Williamsburg??

  I will be so sad when this bar leaves. Goes to show how much this neighborhood pretty much annihilated any counter culture (or any culture). Always be in my heart Hanks

  Great place, very trendy. If you're visiting from abroad (none USA), bring your passport! Driving license (etc..) will not be accepted. Otherwise, lovely establishment.

  Lovely dive bar featuring great tunes most nights of the week. Cash only! Go while you can as they are slated to close during 2018.

  One of the best bars in Brooklyn. Definitely the best bar in downtown Brooklyn. Love this place. Old awesome vibe
