This place is very hit or miss – it's an extreme two sided spectrum. It all depends on which lady/ladies is/are working, which day of the week it is, which time of the day it is, and the overall attitude of those working that day. They seem to be more respectful and nicer to those who don't do their own laundry, and instead just drop it off. Those of us who do take the time to wash our own items are watched over and watched carefully. They are territorial about how the machines are precisely used. The place is small and narrow which means a very limited number of machines overall. There is only one small counter for folding (handles one person at a time). 40-60% of the machines are used by staff at all times to do the drop-off laundry orders. I have lived in 11222/11211 for 13 yrs now and this is one of the worst laundry places I have ever been in and out of. There use to be another laundromat on Franklin St: "Franklin St Laundromat" (at 190 Franklin) which recently closed w/in the last year. It was much larger, with more space/more machines/more folding tables. I still to this day feel bad for that owner having to close after being there for almost 25 yrs. Skyrocketing commercial rent pushed him out. I normally don't write public reviews, but I find this one necessary this time. I would hope someone responsible and respectful to locals purchases the vacant laundromat sooner than later at 190 Franklin St. Green Point Laundromat needs to reevaluate how they treat people overall. This is now the only laundromat left on Franklin St. There are too many older buildings on this side of the neighborhood that do not allow for laundry in building because of old pipes. If you are going to wash your own stuff here, they really only want you to bring clothing or basic linens in to wash. Pillows (bed or couch throw), large comforters, large blankets, knitted blankets, fringed blankets, throw rugs, knitted rugs, carpet runners, large bathroom rugs, large/extra large/thick towels are very problematic with them. It's a case by case basis if they will allow it or not, is dependent on who is working that day and if they remember you or not. *Two years ago I brought in a brand new set of bed sheets to wash (took them out of the store packaging while there). I loaded the new sheets into one wash, my clothing into another, and left. I got to the street corner and realized I had left my tote bag on top of the washer. I went back for it. At the moment of walking back in I caught one of the women (still works there) putting fabric softener into the machine that was washing my new linens. I asked her "What are you doing – Why are you doing that?" She went on and on about how it would help. I reminded her that I was not paying her to do my laundry, that I was doing my own laundry, and that people (myself included) have perfume allergies, skin sensitivity, and dermatology issues – that you cannot do things like that. After that encounter I stuck to the laundromat at 190 Franklin St. Now that the laundromat at 190 Franklin St. is closed, I am now forced to go back to Green Point Laundromat. Since then I've been told so many different things (again it all depends on who is working/what point in the day/if they remember you or not/which day of the week): – Once I was not allowed to put two big towels and a double load of laundry into the same dryer (It would mess up the drum). Have I been able to dry all items together before there: Yes – I have a narrow runner rug (sisal fiber w/ a 2 inch cotton border). Sometimes I'm allowed to wash it. Sometimes I'm not allowed to wash it. It all depends on who is working and what time of day it is. If I am allowed to wash it, it's washed by itself in a double washer. – Once I had scented laundry detergent added to my free and clear wash. I was then accused of adding too much detergent to my own laundry and accused of causing a problem to their machine. – I have been praised for knowing how to separate and wash my bed linens correctly by staff. I'm sick of this bipolar place.

Terrible rude staff. Filled with obnoxious old ladies hovering on weekends. Multiple times have had staff members remove my clothes from washers and dryers before the cycles were finished. My girlfriend has used wash and fold service and it is subpar at best, awful at worst. Avoid this place at all costs.

I absolutely love this place, I developed a nice relationship with the staff, and it is always the laundromat I suggest to Greenpoint locals

I love them. We live in the neighborhood and they do our laundry twice a week. Rates are really good and the ladies who work here are always nice and fun to talk with. We have tried lots of other places and this one is most pleasant.

Kind of strange to be posting a review of a laundromat, I know, but oh man, I wish I had done a little research on this place before I used it. I usually drop off my laundry at the Greenpoint Laundromat, and, so far, had no problems--though they definitely over charge. This last time, they lost ALL of my underwear and bras. Not just a couple of pairs...ALL. You know how expensive underthings can be, right? I went by to ask if maybe someone had dropped off the bundle of underwear that wasn't theirs, but the lady just stared at me blankly and shrugged her shoulders. Not even a "Oh no! I'm so sorry!" At the very least they should have offered to keep an eye out or maybe even a free wash. I kinda hope they go out of business and a better management takes over. They made me really mad. I have one pair of underwear left (it was laundry day, so they aren't even a nice pair). DON'T GO HERE and give them more business. They don't deserve your cash.
