  As with anything, you get what you spend for...and you have to clearly outline what you expect and discuss those expectations when they cannot be met and work on alternatives. And one have to be practical. No amount of guilt driving one to be 'over and extra' with arrangements will correct mis-steps. In other words, go there with your plan and outline and present it to them and then work with them. Approximately 8 years ago, for the first time in my life I had to make Funeral arrangements for a loved one, my dear husband of a few decades. My experience was one in a daze and still is... BUT the experience with the Funeral Director was OK. He was there to do a job and that is what he did. Could he have been a bit more personable, sure, but he is not paid for that and in hindsight it would take a lot for him given the business if he allowed himself to get too personal. Let's face it, some loved ones are overly distraught, emotional and full of 'extra' dramas. (FACTS). *THREE and FOUR STARS* They managed to find me a coffin/casket of the color and with the hardware I needed...it was PERFECT! They also managed to secure for me a burial spot that is IDEAL! The service (two days) with three hundred plus mourners went without a hitch. They were accommodating with extra chairs. They were accommodating with opening early the day of the funeral so I can perform final religious rites. They allowed me to play music from my own speaker (because I did not want to take chances on theirs...and this was an important part of the final rites for my husband). The MEMORIAN cards were also what I wanted. They were receptive and obliging to make sure that the body was positioned as required for my religious rites. And the flowers, especially getting the 'blue roses' I needed was on par ............ but remember I said, you get what you paid for...... all of these 'ideals' came at a high price. I did not negotiate for anything with them..... and I do not recall them saying they are giving me a deal...discount... dressing of the the body was done by very close relatives and friends and my husband looked absolutely handsome! I had very clear instructions on what should or should be and should not be done and it was all followed. (Otherwise I would have been on the news!)......... but again, I stress, I paid good money! Even with my instructions to not accept flowers but tell callers to donate money to a charity in my husband's name was followed, that was another important fact. *ONE STAR* Their sound-system/speakers could have been better and given the volume of business they do this should definitely improved upon. *TIME* I had no problem with their time. They are employees and they are paid for the time they are there, to EXPECT them to be there longer than their paid hours is obscene to say the least. So I had not issues with their timing. (After all, I do not want to work for hours I am not getting paid for...).

  I can understand that reading some reviews that others have had un-pleasing encounters. I only give review from my point of view about my experience with a location, business, ect... This place is large on the inside and keeped to look as clean as it can be. Staff showed to be professional and helpful in attending to be accommodating with both our chapels full to capacity. I came here for chapel E and F and they opened the doors to the chapel D next to it and ask in anyone wanted to sit, they could go in and are welcome. I don't know how many chapel They had in total. They have seats/sofas available outside the chapel along the hallways and have seats/sofas on the bottom level where the restrooms are located. They have handicap lift entrance by the parking lot side doors and an elevator to the lower level to use restrooms. They also have an upper level but I did not see what was up there.

  The ONLY reason I am giving this place a 1 star is because there isn't a 0 star option! Let me begin with the night my sister-in-law and I went to take the final piece of material for my mother-in-law. We took her wig up there and wanted to make sure the person that was dressing her knew where the front was since it was very short. The man at the front desk called "downstairs" to ask for someone to come up. Although, the man at the front desk was as nice as he could be, we could hear the lady on the phone asking "what do they want?" As if it would be too much for her to come up and speak with us. She ended up just saying the person that did that wasn't there. Let's move on to the service. It was beautiful, but the music kept stopping and took at least 15-20 minutes fro someone to restart it. Now, let's go to the ending. These RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, DISGUSTING, NON-SYMPATHETIC people kicked us out of the funeral home at 5:00 on the dot!!!! Not one of them cared, this family is laying their loved one to rest. Not one of them cared, this will be the very last time to see their loved one's face. It was time for them to get off and go home to their loved ones. The time clock stopped for them at 5. Then to top it all off, they just shut the lights off on her. Just leaving her there in this huge room, by herself. Like, you can just stay here for now. It's time for us to go home, we don't have time to do what we SHOULD do. I mean, I know she has passed to heaven by my God, really? These people are in this business for the wrong reason. It's money only for them. They have no feelings at all and could give 2 f**** about the families that choose to spend their hard earned money with them. I mean, I have never in all my years witnessed something so disgusting and heart-less. By reading other reviews (after the fact), looks like karma has caught up to them before and I hope and pray she catches up with them again, sooner than later, so not too many more families have to go through what this family did. PLEASE CHOOSE A MORE HONEST AND CARING PLACE!!!!!!!! This is NOT THE ONE!!

  This is a funeral home that is without a doubt unprofessional and had scandals in the past. I'm not saying you can't move on from past scandals but when you shut down and open under new management you are supposed to be better than before. They didn't! They are all about money and nothing more and nothing less. I try to support my fellow black owned businesses but they really let me down so much. Take my advice and decline this funeral home like I did. It'll save you time and a headache.
