I never write reviews for restaurants, or really any places I go for that matter. But the veal ravioli, the uncannily delicious kale salad, even the dang bread demanded I write this review. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is classy but not imposing or uptight, though I could have done without the small children at the table next to us but who am I to stop someone from procreating. The service was exactly what was needed, they were knowledgable and fulfilled requests in no time and were always close by. It cannot be understated that this is one of the best Italian joints in Central Park West, maybe even New York City as a whole, possibly on Planet Earth. Seriously dude, that kale salad. You will thank me. And there's excellent gelato a block away! New York, man. This restaurant alone is worth your visit to this crazy peninsula.

Best handmade pasta. Less expensive than others around. Try gnocchi

Gennaro is authentic Italian - it is actually named after the owner who comes from the real place where food is sacred. Great hospitality - Maurizio, the maître, welcomes every guest and after 2 minutes he is your best friend. Menu includes Italian popular dishes, some with an American twist. Portions are large and dishes well presented. If you live in Upper West Side, Gennaro should become you favorite neighborhood place.

The actual menu is double the price of what is posted on google. I have no problem paying $20 for a good plate of pasta but this was not the case. The pasta wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever had but certainly isn’t worth $20 or even half that price. Would not recommend.

Fabulous food. Excellent service: attentive but not intrusive. We were catching up with a friend we hadn’t seen in years and didn’t feel rushed to leave as we sat and talked! Going back this weekend.
