  The building is depressing; I was there in March, so no flora to brighten the grounds up. Incredibly noisy in the dorm areas. Wood floors, wood doors, creaky bathroom door that would not take 5 minutes to fix if they cared. The younger attendees had a tendency to stay up late and wander around, adding to the noise. The program was uninspiring. Husband/wife team. He was ok, if overly pious; she is not a good teacher, she rambles and is repetitive. All in all, I felt like I wasted my money.

  Good retreat space. Lovely grounds. Sleeping quarters are very noisy due to old wood floors and nothing to absorb sound. Bring earplugs!

  The Garrison Institute is a wonderful place. We attended a 3 night Krishna Das retreat in mid February and had a great time. The facility is super clean and the food was delicious. The rooms are small and there’s not great soundproofing in the walls… but it’s a monastery (for god’s sake 😉). Communal showers and toilets were the other ugh…, but everything was new and nice and clean! The actual retreat was wonderful as well. Professionally run and organized, we would definitely come back. Even the train ride to Garrison was fun. Thank you Garrison Institute!
