::Booked on hostelworld. The hostel canceled my booking a week later, after they asked me to send my full credit card details including security code via plain email, even though I provided them to hostelworld. Very shady

::This place has an Instagram-ready mid-century modern vibe that's straight out of Madmen or a Wes Anderson flick. The attention to detail in the decor is astounding. Unfortunately, in the private rooms at least, the grittiness (broken toilet roll and a 10+ minute wait for hot shower water in the bathroom, dirty bare floors, persistent residue of cigarette smoke, etc) outweighed the cool factor.

::Comfortable room in a great location for exploring Miami Beach. Easy to find and staff were very helpful, including when I was locked out of my room...! Breakfast is basic but good and the Broken Shaker downstairs is a great place to start or end the evening. I would stay here again if I come back to Miami Beach.

::So much potential, but so disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The facilities are pretty and the building was historic and charming but the rooms were run down and dirty. The website is really deceiving! We had to ask for top sheets which when we got them were all ripped. The room was stinky and musty and generally grubby. Our first room was above the bar which was noisy, we changed rooms and were promised it would be better which it wasn't and we woke up to realize the smoke detector was missing from the ceiling. The bar had a good atmosphere in the evening so if you think you've fallen in love with this hotel like I did, go for a cocktail and do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

::This hotel/hostel is AMAZING. My group of friends and I came from Tampa, FL on a mini road trip to stay the weekend in Miami Beach. We previously booked a hotel down the strip, but we had such a horrible experience, we had to leave. There were no hotels with vacancy. Finally, after hours searching, Freehand was able to book a private room for the four of us. The room had 4 bunk beds. Our own bathroom. I was hesitant at first to even stay at a hostel due to previous stories I've heard, but honestly, after such a great time this weekend, I without a doubt would love to stay there again. The staff was super friendly. The pool area was so nice and relaxing. Plus the food and drinks were delicious. It was not expensive, especially for being in Miami. Thank you for saving our girls trip from being a complete disaster !
