  We are renting our house, and we have to give the landlord receipt stating that we had the chimney inspected in order to use the chimney. The Fireplace Doctor, at first, seemed to be a decent company by whom to have my chimney inspected. We set up the initial inspection without any issues, but that is about as far as the good interactions went. When it came time for the scheduled inspection, I took off from work to be home, but they never showed up. They didn't call or email me to let me know. After calling the next day (I couldn't get in touch with anyone on the actual day of the inspection), we were able to reschedule to another date. After the inspection, we were told by the fire place technician that there was a little rust on the chase cover, but that the chimney would be fine to use. What the technician wrote on the receipt, however, was that we MUST replace the chase cover ($1800) in order to use our chimney. I called every day for about 3 weeks to get in touch with the technician who inspected the chimney to ask if he would write down what he said to us, but either there was no answer, I would be put on hold indefinitely, or I would be passed around to "my supervisor" in a trail that seemingly led nowhere. Finally, I was informed that what was written on the receipt after the initial inspection is the only documentation that they could judge from, and they refused to set up a further inspection. I understand liability, but the facts that it took 3 weeks to get a definitive response, that the response was an unwaivering "No", and the general lack of dedication to resolve an issue seem to indicate to me that this company has a lot to do and can't be bothered with taking care of clients
