URGENT do not trust FedEx!!!!!!! On Wednesday night, I found out I needed to have a document notarized at a consulate in New York City for a meeting overseas. It was too late to send it that night. I had two options, drive to New York City or find out if the document could be sent and received Friday morning and resent and returned to me on Saturday. On Thursday morning, I went to the FedEx office at Logan airport in East Boston at 9:00 am. as soon as it opened. I asked if it was possible to mail a letter to New York Friday morning and have it mailed back to me on Saturday. I was told, “Yes.”, by the FedEx clerk. This is great. I didn’t need to drive back and forth to New York City from Massachusetts, a four hour drive with out traffic. The clerk processed the transaction for me and assured me I would get my letter on Saturday. I paid extra to have a Saturday Delivery. The letter was received and notarized at the Consulate on time. The document was picked to be mailed back to me. I started tracking the return package around 12 pm. and I would check it every hour. Around 7:30 pm., the tracking said the package was picked up and would be delivered Monday morning. I immediately called FedEx to find out what happened because the package was supposed to be delivered on Saturday. I was told the transaction was processed as Priority Overnight. This type of transaction the package is delivered on the next business day. I spoke to a FedEx Customer Service Manager named Eddie. I explained to him that I had a paid $1,500.00 for a nonrefundable ticket to fly overseas on Sunday and I needed that package on Saturday. He tried to locate the letter for me and assigned a Trace to it. He said the package was at a closed location in New York City. He told me I could speak to a Trace Specialist on Saturday morning at 9 am and either the document would be mailed to me by 12 pm Saturday or I could make arrangements to pick it up at the location. On Saturday morning at 9 am., I called FedEx to speak to the Trace Specialist. I was told the package was in Newark, NJ by Christine. I asked to speak to her Manager. The manager’s name was Lisa. Lisa explained to me the letter was in a container in Newark, NJ and it was closed to customers. I then spoke to a higher Manager. I explained to each person I needed this package and I would to drive to a FedEx location or truck to pick it up. The last manager said they did not know where it was being sent to from Newark. She promised to call me back in two hours to let me know where the package was to pick it up and that she would try to have it pulled from the container. I ended my phone call at 10 am. I never received a phone call back from FedEx. I called four hours later and spoke to a man. He told me the package was in Memphis, TN and I would have to wait until Monday for the document to be delivered. I flew out of the country on Sunday as planned. My wife received the package Monday morning. She then sent it by UPS. The letter will be received today overseas in less time than it took FedEx to return it to me from New York to Boston. Once again, do not trust FedEx. Attached is the FedEx service, the worst shipment service to use, and also attached is UPS service, the best service to use. UPS sent my package to another continent quicker than it took FedEx to ship something from New York to Boston and back, even with all of the charges I paid. They ripped me off almost $37 each way. Do not trust FedEx!!!
