::The front desk staff was very very rude, Dr. Nancy Faigen treated me like a child and talked down to me the whole visit. She said I needed a few days time to recover from my flu but only gives out notes for the day of the visit, even after I explained I can only use sick leave when i have a doctors note she wouldn't budge and just kept repeating "I only give out notes for the day of the visit". The faculty was run down and dirty. It's a family clinic but posted on every trash can is a sign saying you cannot throw away diapers, oh but they are nice enough to provide you with a bag to take your trash home in. Because buying a diaper bin for your clients would be far to much to ask from these people. The whole experience was awful and I'm taking my family to another doctor. Co-pay is the same anywhere you go, so why would you go someone that's run down and where you are treated poorly?

::The woman working the front desk wouldn't let me make an appointment. I asked for her earliest available and she said they were booked through the next week. I said I'm out of town next week and she said she couldn't help me and then hung up on me. I'm not sure why the week after was not an option but based on some other reviews I've read it sounds like that is just her personality. I didn't get her name but she should be talked with or let go since she is turning away potential clients/patients and ruining what seems to be an otherwise good practice. Guess I'll look elsewhere for a health care provider.

::(Sorry for the length ahead of time) Okay, first off, I have to say I've been going to Al Faigin's office since July 2008. My mother has used Nancy for five years now and my sister has changed offices several times, finally settling on the Faigins. I started off with Nancy Faigin, but switched to Al only because he deals with ADHD or ADD adults. After reading these reviews, I have to say, yes, the first few times I went to them, I did receive a 'cool welcome', but you have to consider that most of the people referred to them have bad insurance cards, out of date items, and a lot of people I've seen have tried to use simple referral as insurance. So, just bear that in mind next time you go there. After becoming a regular, they remember who I am, what my voice sounds like, what's going on in my life. In their line of work, they have to be stern otherwise it'd be thirty minutes of someone trying to talk their way down to a deductible that they don't have, and the line backs up and phone calls don't get answered and so on and so forth. They aren't a dept store where they can call in people up the chain of command to deal with 'trouble' patients while they help other people, they're the front line and have to deal with all kinds of crazy stuff. So, just give the receptionists time and consideration. They're caring people who've just been burnt one too many times, so they've had to build walls. As for the complaints against Nancy Faigin, I've noticed only certain types of people like her. Ones who can deal with being told "Your weight exceeds blah blah ratio and is unhealthy. You have to exercise or you'll exacerbate your health and die in this amount of time" .... Needless to say, her bedside manner is brusque, terse and frank. She is to the point and tells you exactly what you need to hear, whether you want to or no. People don't like being told what's negative about them, and with no candy coating her manners can really put someone off. BUT, if you need someone to tell you 'No', 'Don't do that, do this', 'Stop smoking', etc...etc.... She's the perfect doctor for the job. She won't be your friend, but she'll recommend you back into health just as well as a football coach drills and trains you from miserable into a fit athlete. If you NEED an intervention, she's the doctor to see. Where as for Dr. Al Faigin, I have to say is he's very personable, humorous.. etc... I believe he's a doctor who genuinely has perfected the 'bedside manner' technique. But beyond that, he can be a bit on the absent minded side. Several times (only several, though over the course of 2 years) he's written the wrong date on the prescription, forgotten this or that, and I've had to come back to the office to get it, but each time I come back, it's promptly ready for me and the nurses/receptionists remember me and give it to me without making me wait in line all over again. Although, the last time he did it, Dr. Faigin went above and beyond the the normal care to rectify the situation himself personally and I didn't have to go back to the office. Two last points, do try to schedule your appointments early, as delays in the day tend to push the schedule behind and by 3 or 4 pm it can take a .... while sometimes to be seen. And, think of questions to ask before you get there, write them down and tell Al and Nancy at the start of the visit you have this many questions to go through. As perceptive as doctors seem, they don't really have X-ray vision and can't detect all the problems at once. And don't just let the questions fall out of the conversation, you have to be an active half in the visit too, otherwise you won't get your money or time's worth.

::The doctor is pretty good. What I didn't like was dealing with the ladies at the front desk. You don't really get greeted when you come in. Sometimes they just look at you and brush you off, as if your just a thing in the room. The last time I went, there was an issue with my insurance, and instead of pulling me aside and handling it professionally, the receptionist was talking about and asking me about some of my personal things that I was embarrassed for the people to hear in the lobby and in line behind me. I don't think I should have been asked if I was cancelling my appointment because I couldn't afford to pay the deductible, and I don't think it was appropriate for her to say what I was being seen for with people right there. I was in total shock that this was even going on right then and there. Then there's the receptionist that checks you on the way out. She never greeted me once, she just ignored that I was standing right there waiting to be checked out, she couldn't even say, "I'll be with you in a second". It's sad to see that it's not the doctor's fault that they lose a customer, but it's the lack of customer service, and handling situations professionally. The day I left that office after the final straw, I was so embarrassed and upset. They need to get rid of people like that, so that the Faigin's have more customers.
