This school goes a long way explaining why New Mexico is dead last in education. Used to volunteer there. Being a educator from NYC I was appalled at what I experienced there.

Emerson hell. I came from Australia my stepfather was in the u. S. Airforce. The teachers liked my English. Some teachers would use me as a model good manners and all that. Which pissed a lot of kids off so at recess time I would get punched in the back. Run there knuckle down my spine and punch at the base of the spine. Teachers were old. My 4th grade teacher became friendly with my mother and step father. I have no siblings. The teacher that was at Emerson invited us to his house he had 2 daughters. His wife was a high school teacher. They both carried 32 calibre pistol. His wife also carried a tear gas pistol. The pe teacher was full on. The only safe place for me was on the swings. At recess lunch. I stayed there for about 18 months. Then moved to Kirkland base. That was a lot better. I was at Emerson 1966-67. I can't remember any grass growing anywhere at Emerson that is for sure. Anyway tat ta I live in perth western Australia 🌏 😎

So much to complain about. As a 4th grader, the students were out of control. Little gangs all over. Some would threaten children about nothing. Some teachers were horrible. Some were great.

They attempted to issue a 2 day suspension for my 6 yr old when she stood "military at rest" when The Pledge of Allegiance was recited in spanish daily. My daughter does NOT speak spanish, was not disruptive, making any noise or disrespectful in any way. The only reason a suspension was not enforced was because I told the principal if it was the next contact they would have regarding the issue was my lawyer and a news crew.
