The appearance of the exterior of the building was pretty. The lobby area was nice. However when I got to my room I was disappointed. For the price, the rooms are very small. The bathroom appeared to have urine stains around the toilet and the shower pressure was horrible and there was no hot water. I had the shower turned all the way up to the hottest and it was lukewarm at best. The bed was comfortable but I did not like the setup as the TV was in the opposite corner of the room, farthest from the bed. It was not a bad night's stay but for the price I will not be returning. Oh I almost forgot to mention that they do not tell you that there is a $41 parking fee on top of that price.

Loved the comfort of the bed! Clean room, nice view of Downtown Los Angeles, gorgeous hotel garden, delicious cookies! Customer service inside the hotel was excellent! Only bad moment we had was when we arrived at the hotel and tried parking to check in, we weren't greeted very well. We got honked at by staff to move forward, we didn't know what was going on, the front area was congested with cars and people. Seemed un-organized and under staffed. When we left the hotel the following day getting the car was extremely different. We were greeted nicely and staff was attentive.

Great location in downtown LA, especially if you like the various offerings of Little Tokyo. The building itself has been around for a while, but I don't think it shows too much. Rooms feel warm and inviting. Great in room views depending on what floor you are on. Parking is expensive. I would appreciate a discount for HHonors status members, but doubtful it would happen.

If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around... I stayed at the DoubleTree in downtown LA for a week Leila in town on business. The room was very clean with a decent view. The Justice Tavern had great service but a mediocre selection of food that was also fairly pricey. The bartenders in the lobby bar were great and the drinks were priced better there than in the tavern. The location relative to most of downtown is a little far but still walkable. It's about a 10 minute walk to Grand Central Market. I wish I would have check out the Kyoto Gardens though!

Nice hotel, pleasant and comfortable. Staff very helpful and welcoming. The one thing I would note is that the area near the hotel has taken a turn for the worse. I strongly recommend staying away from everything East of the hotel, as Los Angeles Street seems to be the last decent block before the sidewalks are filled with homeless in tents and rolled up in blankets. Especially southeast, as even one block over and 2-3 down is stunning. I only drove there at night, but I can't imagine any of those businesses are even open anymore. It's what I imagine a third world slum looking like, and I'm hardly exaggerating. It's almost worth seeing just to experience. It's sad, but that's the reality, and I wish I had known it going in. I ended up having to walk back to the hotel at 1 a.m. and it did not feel particularly safe. All that said, it is quite a nice hotel, and I had no complaints about the quality and comfort of the room. But location matters, and it's something I wish I had known going in.
