  The only good food here are the chips in the guacamole. The chicken in the tacos was drier than my inbox on a Sunday night. The ground beef looked like wet cat food (and didn't taste much better.) My tastebuds felt very disrespected by the churros that had no flavor by themselves and tasted like they were cooked in old grease and then thrown into the Chicago Food Depository Pantry and covered in sugar and cinnamon.

  Seems you are too busy to be open during your normal business hours. My family was staying next door at the holiday inn express. We walked miles on our visit and we just wanted to grab some quick tacos next door. We show up at 6pm and you are closed even though your sign says youre open until 7pm M-F. so we have to wait over an hour for some TERRIBLE Chinese from Chinese yum yum cause we just could not walk another step. I am so uninterested in visiting this city ever again, let alone your restaurant.

  Got the vegan tamales. That's not cheese (which would be problematic). It's mold. I definitely won't be returning.

  Three stars for the surprisingly good rice pudding and tacos, zero for the service and experience. Cashier was too busy flirting with a delivery boy to pay us any attention, even though we were the only customers in the store. I’m no prude but all I wanted was a spoon...but she was laughing and cursing so bad I couldn’t bring myself to interrupt. I guess there’s no dine-in option, because our food was served in styrofoam to-go containers anyway, as if inviting us to leave. When I ordered chips and salsa, cashier didn’t tell me I was to serve myself from the cooler and bags of chips and we sat there awkwardly for a while. I’d be over it if lunch hadn’t cost $30 for two. Won’t be back.

  Oh Don’s, we really really want to love you, but your service is just so bad. Week after week a small group of us come in and there’s always something. Either we’re waiting in line for 15 minutes while the cashier manually enters phone/online orders, or we’re waiting for our numbers to be called as we can see our food sitting on the ledge, waiting. The staff has always been very friendly, just not very efficient. We keep coming back because your food is usually sooo good. The nachos are AMAZING and the guacamole and tacos are good too. But even the food lately hasn’t been as good. The inside is pretty small, so it would be difficult to fit a group of more than 6. The eating area is usually nice and clean. Bottom line, if you want good Mexican food with a small group and are willing to gamble on your wait time, Don’s is a great option in the south loop. If they would just have better service on the front end, this place would be 5 stars.
