Came here for the Vikings and I wasn't disappointed. It's a little pricy if you're planning on taking the whole family, but it was well worth it. I had a fantastic time and the exhibit was AMAZING. There was a storyteller, too, and he was fantastic. I would imagine a membership would make frequent visits more worthwhile, but I don't live in the area, so a trip is a rare adventure. The staff was so friendly and the views across the parks to the mountains were unbelievable. I would definitely recommend a visit.

This is one of the first places my husband and I went together when we first started dating, and now we're taking our children. I loved it from the moment I stepped inside. The museum has so much to offer, from the exhibits you can quietly enjoy to the many activities that keep you entertained and interactive. It makes you love and appreciate nature and science on another level. I always feel good about taking my kids here as they learn something new every time and exhaust themselves from fun. One of our favorite things to do is to look for the hidden gnomes throughout the exhibits. The museum overlooks City Park, and the view is breathtaking! You can even rent event space with this view and when we got engaged we requested a quote to have our wedding here! If your budget allows, becoming a member of the museum is worth it. On the day of your visit, you can apply the cost of admission tickets towards membership. It pays for itself quickly and comes with a discount in the gift store and, depending on the level, free passes. The only small drawbacks are driving down the nightmare that is Colorado Blvd to get to the museum, the lack of parking during peak times, and the limited food options. These things are so minor though compared to what you get.

This is an excellent place to take children. My family has an annual membership, so we can visit as often as we like. The exhibits are really interesting and varied. They can entertain and educate a wide range of age groups, from young children to adults. My daughter especially enjoys the Discovery Zone; which is mostly hands-on activities. I would advise saving it for last though, most kids leave soaked from the water area.

This museum is large, with many diverse and captivating exhibits. The museum is very popular, to the point where parking in the lot or garage is more trouble than its worth. We have friends with a membership and they highly recommend it. The new temporary exhibits, Dead Sea Scrolls and Creatures Of Light, are both a good way to spend maybe an hour or so at each. The Dead Sea Scrolls were a fascinating look into the ancient past. Could be an information overload if you have a short attention span. The creatures of light was shorter but very nicely presented, and the live scorpion was a nice touch. the diorama rooms are fun, but it is a REALLY easy way to get lost if you aren't familiar with the museum. The Egyptian exhibit is quick and informative , and will leave you wanting to know more Egyptian mythology. Gems and minerals.... one of the better things this museum has to offer, although it is FAR longer than it looks, so don't bother if you have the slightest possibility of being pressed for time- go earlier in the day. expedition health is geared toward younger participants, as is Space Odyssey. While I have visited expedition health when I was about 8 or 9 and loved it, they should have something similar for older kids, teens, and adults. The IMAX may be the best part of the museum. When you go, make it a priority to check this out . Films are about 45-60 minutes and are interesting, informative and fun, with exciting topics. I have never been in the planetarium. the only drawbacks would be: 1. the food is not the best and is overpriced- bring a lunch if going all day. 2. parking- you are seriously better off parking on the street than trying to get in the lot. 3. it is crowded on weekends. 4. this is a popular family attraction, which means people bring babies and toddlers. this usually doesn't bother anybody, but that means a definite increase in volume. Overall- come with the kids, see the temporary exhibits, go with members or become one yourself, some exhibits look smaller than they are or are easy to get lost in, but overall, just COME. you won't regret it!!

My sister and I visited the museum today and enjoyed our time there for the most part. The mineral display was my personal favorite and the collection was really impressive. The wildlife displays were also really cool and there were a lot of different displays to see. The dinosaur section was large and the skeletons were cool, but we didn’t really have a chance to stop and enjoy everything it had to offer because there were so many kids running around. Sadly, there was never an opportunity to get close enough to a display to read the facts or see the fossils because it was so crowded. The space and health sections seemed super geared towards children and left us pretty disappointed because the other displays were much better in comparison. Once again, both sections were overrun with kids and we didn’t get the chance to enjoy the displays. Also, what little we did have the opportunity to see/ interact with in the health section didn’t work. Overall, the museum is worth seeing for sure, but I would recommend going during a week day in the later afternoon to avoid large crowds so that you can enjoy the displays and find parking.
